I am not talking about avoiding them with not exercising so much or drinking water or warming up before getting really into it.
What I want to know how to rid them once you have sore muscles. I know heating and ice packs help but you can’t apply sometimes icepacks all over the body … so what else?
The best way to avoid sore muscles is most importantly to stretch REALLY well AFTER you work out. When you do have sore muscles move around as much as you can and continue to stretch. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but it will loosen the soreness up a bit. You have to get the blood flowing through your muscles as well as you can if you're sore. Another way to reduce the possibility is after stretching after your workout elevate the areas that are possible to be sore. For example if you went running for awhile, stretch well afterwards, then elevate your legs above your waist for 10-15 minutes or so. This will help keep the chemicals that cause sore muscles from entering the area in the first place.
massage will surely help you.. when I went through a strenuous exercise like crazy for a few days, I ended up with very sore muscles and ice packs/hot baths didn't work at all but I got a professional massage done and trust me the pain just flew away.
you are getting bald and now sore muscles.. you must accept the old age with grace :p
i dunno about immediate stuff, but atleast one muscle-set of my body is sore/healing/hurting all the time.. i just eat lots of eggs (protein+heat) and milk+honey.. with diet that a lil higher amounts of onions... onions have great healing power..
also, i've seen that lying in heat/sun helps the sore muscles.. i get a nasty tan, but its helping me a lot :-)
Bengay/Tiger Balm/Iodex all help. So does taking some mild Asprin (ask your doctor).
The only two real cure is to stretch well AFTER your workout and keep moving for a couple of hours after. Do not just plop on the couch and eat your dinner off a plate on your stomach while watching TV ! Keep your muscles moving for a long time afterwards. The lactic acid build up takes a while to leave your muscles.
Excercise regularly. Preferably 6 days a week.. no rest days in between. Do this for few months atleast so that your muscles get used to the contractions, lactic acid buildup and stretching.
take l-carnitine 250 mg one pill before working out.a lot of professional athletes especially the ones involved in cycling, running do to avoid cramps.but don't take it and sit on your ass or it may raise your blood pressure a little bit.
did u just recently start working out? if so then it's most likely due to the fact that you are new at this. Your body will get used to it with time. Dont stop working out just because you are feeling sore (just make sure not to work out same muscle next day) In fact, having sore muscles after a workout just means that you worked out well. If you are feeling pain however that is a different story.
for now gently stretch out the sore area and take some ibuprofen...this will help reduce some of the soreness.
in the future...be sure to stretch before and after working out (if you havent been doing so)
