Sophos: Free temporary fix for deadly Windows flaw

I’m sure everyone has heard about the worst flaw that was discovered in ALL VERSIONS of Windows!

Its a security hole in the Windows shell where somebody can take advantage of .LNK files (shortcuts) and gain enough access to it and run arbitrary code on the computer.

Microsoft has confirmed this hole exists in all versions of Windows since Windows 98. The worst part is that MS announced that they will ONLY provide a fix for Windows that they are supporting. So that goes back to only Windows XP SP3.
Even after MS provides the fix all version of Windows, XP2 and before will always have this hole. (see link below).

Sophos just released a free fix for this flaw which you can install and fix this security problem. The Free tool by Sophos works for everyhing XP and later. It doesn’t fix Windows 2000 and before.

Worms are already coming out which are exploiting this security hole.
Please go ahead and install this Sophos fix before anything bad happens to your computer. You can download the fix here:

Details on the security flaw can be found on the Microsoft site here:

hehe. enjoy Windows users :stuck_out_tongue:
