Sony wega has nice picture..but when i went to the store and compared it with panasonic, it was almost the same quality, infact i found panasonic resolution much better with better a price tag! I dont know about panasonics reliablity in long term as compared to sony, but that’s just my opinion…whats your take on it? I need to buy a 37- 42 inch television soon. Any recommendations?
Toshiba got better pixel quality man.
I don't know about Panasonic TVs, but our Sony is really excellent.
Rockistan: so toshiba has better pixel quality then sony?
Umer: which model of sony do you have?
yea i noticed it aswell. I went to a shop some days ago and i found the pixels on some other brand tv (cant remeber exactly) to be way better than that of sony which ws right beside it.
My view. I sell TV's and other electrical stuff at a major store. Sony TV's do come at a slight higher price compared to other brands such as panasonic or JVC. Major difference being Sony use a trintorn tube which uses a apperature grill technology while conventional tubes use shadow mask. Flat screen TV's are great if you get one that has good convergence throught the screen. Many top brands even sony, pana, jvc struggle. With the DVD or video running in the showroom you wont notice this easily. have something with text and you will see what i mean or even better test patterns. IMO look for exagiration in white tones, along with picture not being sharp in the conrners. These are the two major problems of CRT at the moment. if any of you have a DVD burnr make some test pattern clips and use that to make your decison purchase.
Panasonic.
I regret choosing Sony in the past few years, experience's told me Panasonic makes equally impressive products for cheaper.

^ yes i agree with you! i have a panasonic cordless telephone and a digitalwalkman! The quality of my cordless is just amazing, loaded with options and battery lasted in my cordless more then my previous sony phone.
just noticed looking for something upto 42" which obviously wont fall into CRT cartegory. Not much difference in brands on LCD apart from design. Most screens made in plants by Sony/Samsung or LG/Philips and the rest mostly by AU Optronics. Design seems to play a major role in purchases here. The higher price is reflected in the electronics not just the screen. You will have better inputs i.e. VGA, DVI, Yb rather than just a VGA if high def and a scart + S-video. Better image proceses do resize pictures, correct ratios and even sync audio to video which is slightly out of sync on cheap displays. If looking for a Plasma I highly recomend the Pioneer displays they have very good picture quality but it comes at a price. Panasonic are also very good at plasma and would have my vote over Sony here if comparing like per like.
Yeah sony is for newbies who know nothing about technology but get impressed just by the brand "sony" thus end up paying more for a product that can be found for a cheaper price by some other less known (or less hyped up) brand. (otherwise known as ripoff!)
Panasonic all the way , you’l be appy,:k:
