I’m switching cell phones/plans and am thinking of getting the Sony Ericsson T310. Does anybody have any experience with Sony phones?
My current cell phone is a Qualcomm model. I’ve had it since 2000 and it is absolutely brilliant … it’s never failed me and has worked excellently when I’ve been out of the country. Since I’m switching companies, I have to switch phones.
What do you all do with your old cell phones? What do you think of this phone … the Sony Ericsson T310. I thought I read someone giving Sony a bad review but I can’t find that post.
Stick to Motorola : ) They've experts in the market of cell phones. I haven't tried sony but I bet your going for the looks like most girls do instead of the performance of the phone.
Looks like a phone for the gamers. I can see why it will attract a lot of school kids. I mean, to have Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 pre-installed must be a big deal for the kids.
To have Sony market the phone by saying "T310 is the most playful phone you’ll find: the joystick, striking color graphics, force feedback and 32-voice polyphonic sound add up to a thrillingly sophisticated mobile gaming experience" just shows who are they focussing on.
If playing games is your main concern, then this one looks very good. Although I won't take anything away from its functionalities either. Its a well-rounded phone, all in all, too. Just too much punk, to be considered a serious phone.
Depending on your career, you may also want to check out the latest offerings from Nokia, LG, Motorola and Samsung. In cellphones, the more important things should be battery life, signal strength, battery life, reception, battery life, availability of accessories and ease of use. Oh! did I mention the battery life? The bells and whistles (polyphonic sounds, games, calendar bla bla) are and should not be the main concern.
Ok i have a Sony Erc. T69i. I perfer this compared to other brands as the graphical interface is far simpler as are the options.
However if you are going to invest in a mobile/cell phone, get a Nokia. They are by far the most reliable, solid built phones out there. Battery life is excellent, the models are simple and sleak. Not to mention the options tend to be simple and extremely effective.
I dont like motorolas. They are far to complicated in their options. You want a phone you can use with ease and without a hassle. Honestly i have come across legal texts less complicated than finding out the sms options in a motorola.
Go for the Sony if you want to do alot of weird and funky stuff with your phone.
If you want a simple phone, which is sleak and simple to use, my advice would be the Nokia. Which nokia? Honestly any will do.
But one plus is that the Sony has both Tri and Dual band. I take my phone and use it in the US every time i am there. Nokia doesnt really allow for those options from what i remember.
I take it that Nokia perhaps makes the most natural (with respect to ease of use and functionality) phones, however Samsung is catching up fast in that respect. I have a C100 and like the way it is organized…even with a korean manual…i was able to figure out almost the entire phone functionality within 5-10 minutes of playing with it.
Motorollas ARE complex creatures…agreed :k:
When i changed mine recently, I was looking for features that would be of use to me, so obviously i scratched out the ones that had the camera add-on adding heavy premiums to the price. For me basic features like sms interface, organizer, color contrast and being light-weight were the criteria. Got that in Samsung. Point being, focus on the features you intend to use in your phone and not on them just sitting pretty on the phone :~)
I'm going with Fido so I have to get one of their phones. Sony Ericssons are the cheapest phones ranging from $125 to $925 (way too much). Nokia's are more expensive ... from $250 up. sigh
I agree Faisal, battery life is important. My Qualcomm has lasted me three years and now it's battery is dying. It's cheaper to get a new phone than to replace the battery.
Comes with
Smart card
700 mAh Lithium Polymer battery
(BST-22)
Travel charger (CST-13)
Headset
Continuous talk time up to 7.5 hours
Standby time up to 14 days (what does this mean?)
I just want a good phone ... but don't want to have to pay an arm and leg for it like with the Nokia phones. Then again, I'm not sure if the phone price is credited to the account like some phone companies do.
You can always get a replacement battery, brand new off ebay. I replaced the battery on my Samsung 8500 for $5.00US. It was brand new and packaged. A real samsung battery from telus is $100.00 Canadian. They have replacement batteries for almost all brands out there.
That means when your phone is on, but not in use. Basically, if you charge your phone up, leave it on and never use it, the battery should die in 14 days.
