Should we be promoting this mehndi riwaz, which clearly comes from Hindu culture and has no place in a muslim wedding. Nikah is a solemn occasion. Lets us not bring it down to the level of a boisterous Hindu wedding.

^ i don't believe that there is anything wrong with the mehndi - a get together for family and friends (i would hope only women) to put mehndi on the bride-to-be and the girls that are there -
what's wrong about it is the 'rasmain' that we associate with the mehndi..who has to give who what, and "how come she got something better than i did?", and the whole other stuff that's involved...those are the things that are wrong.

There have been 100’s of posts from Pak guppies arguing against this statement. I would guess about 99 out of 100 Pakistanis feel they are closer in culture and certainly in religion to Arabs than they are to Indians, even Indian muslims. Attempts by Guppies to disawow Paksiatn’s pre-islamic (and glorius) history are unginat.
