The Ustad starts off with a self composed cheez where he interlaces a persian/farsi ghazal words (emroz ba’de umre) with tarana bols (ta na dere na). He breaks off into the traditional bandish aeri aali, piya bin; and ends with a sargam (.ne sa ga re ga). Furthermore, he gives a vibrant demo of his vocal prowess through-out the piece, easily maneuvering in three octaves.
Ustad Mohammad Hussain Sarahang was the court musician of King Zahir Shah’s court in Kabul, Afghanistan. Coming from a family of musicians, his father sent him to India where he became a student of the great Aashiq Ali Khan of Patiala Gharana (also one of the teachers of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan). His gaiki also shows some influence of Ustad Amir Khan, and his voice is somewhat similar to that of Munawwar Ali Khan.
Aiman is one of the basic and at the same time biggest (most expansive) Raags in North Indian Classical music (also known as Raag Yemen). Belonging to the Kalyan Thaath, all notes in Aiman are teevar (sharp) and hence the basic scale corresponds with the Lydian mode. Could I ask you as to where you have heard Sarahang before, as I am very fascinated by the great Afghan singer. And also I would request you (and all persian speaking friends here) for help in deciphering and understanding the words...... please please.... from the little that I have been able to decipher the poetry is simply stunning .....

well iam from Afghanistan so obviously i have heard it.. and beside that he is my parent’s favorate singer..
To be honest with you.. i got some of the words not alot.. but my mom loved it… 
Well I'll take a first crack at the words which I presume should not be too hard to decipher. Do please help as much as possible, and correct the translation as well, I know as much faarsi/darri as Brad Pitt knows Latin.

I guess there are some things here which are not easily translated into english eg. "Sharm" and "wafaa" ! But still, as I said I need some help on this.
WOW. I know he is a great singer. He was awarded for being such a great singer.
