I think the issue is that most people are fed up of silly threads that just clog up the forum. In specific, threads that have nothing to do with the original title and then just turn in to a chat thread. As someone here mentioned - do it in your own blog!
I guess this is maybe something the mods need to get tougher on, as I feel there are many people who find it annoying but are too afraid to speak up about it.
