I think the writer made a deliberate effort to present only the worst cases of how people celebrated the birthday of the Prophet (PBUH).
Just as an example, there are many ahadith which talk about the importance of Rajab and Sha'ban, especially what the muslims of Indo-Pak refer to as Shab-e-Baraat. It is an occasion to pray and ask forgiveness for our sins. If some ppl decide that no, this is the night to torch fire-crackers and make a nuisance, then it is their choice and their deed, and to condemn the significance of the night is quite unjustified.
Similarly, although the muslims should remember the virtues of Islam, Quranic teachings and the greatness of our Prophet (PBUH) 365 days a year. They don't do that. So if they can do it for even one day, under this pretext, it should be appreciated. The purpose of Eid-Milad-ul-Nabi is not to take out processions, and kiss the "paharian" and play songs. The best way to spend 12 Rabi-Al-Awal is to make an effort to go to religious gatherings, listen to islamic topics and realize how fortunate we are to be among the ummah of the "best creation of Allah" - our Prophet Muhammad (Saleh Allah Walihi Wassalam). It is an occassion to ask Allah to forgive our sins and to give us taqweeat to follow all commandments given to us in the Quran and by the Prophet (PBUH).

… During this month and on the 12, ibadat is the only thing that was done by muslims. When i was in Jeddah we use to go to MAkka mukarama somtiems everyday and do ibadat there. Ammi jan gives us panjsora and we read nafals and Surahs from Quran Sharif. Especially darood sharif is really good if u read during this month (one should do it everyday

Peacemaker, I guess thats what i believe on … no one can conflict about the importance of the day but i dont agree with the way we celebrate it. Plus my openion is that celebration comes 2nd to implementation means we better implement and try to follow the life style of Prophat Mohammad ( P.B.U.H) and if we are not doing that in our everyday life ..there is no point in celebrating the day !
I guess if we ends up saying “this is the day of Prophat Mohammad (P.B.U.H) whome we FOLLOW” we will be in better position. That FOLLOW is no where now a days…

As I said, the write made a deliberate attempt to present the worst cases of celebration. He forgot to mention that there were countless muslims all over the world, who spent the night and most of the day enhancing their knowledge about Islam, Quran and our Prophet (PBUH), and making a vow to tune their life more in line with the teachings of our deen. That is how we should spend evry day of the year. If not then atleast as many days as we can. Whatever the excuse may be.
well...why specify a day to pray and ask forgiveness when u have the other 364 days to do that as well..the writer says that there is no relevance of this event in sunnah and quran. it is something ppl created it on their own after the nabi'. so, if somebody comes along and claims that this is a religious event, then no it is not. it is simply a day when people 'choose' to pray 'more'. i completely agree with the imam-e-kaaba that this has nothing to do with the 'religion' islam, and peoples belief that it is a part of islam is wrong as well. the point is.. why choose 12 rabi ul awal.. why did the people in the era of prophet mohammed never celebrated it? the question is: are v more knowledgeable than the people who ver alive at the time of prophet and after his death?
regarding shab-e-barat…yes those months are more afzaal than others..but once again.. there is nothing that points to ‘shab-e-barat’ in hadith .. or quran.

that’s all i have to say about the “Imam’s” fatwa above. Suffice it to say most other scholars have different opinions than his group.
