Something I noticed....

The only two free institutions in the country - Freed by Musharraf - hate his guts.

Re: Something I noticed....

I am so glad some else noticed that too.
But in my opinion people earn name/respect for the institutions. For example our troops are brave and they gave lives to earn respect for army.
Lately CJ put up a nice show and earned judiciary's respect back.

That phenomena hasn't happened in to many departments.

Re: Something I noticed....

abuse of freedom is quite common phenomena specially if freedom is relatively new. Both institutions will learn over time how to enjoy the freedom in unbiased manner specially media !

Re: Something I noticed....

Its not about hating anyone's guts. They're reporting what they can. For many journalists, its about honest journalism. Meanwhile, how much bribery is going on under the table, who knows? I don't think any institution in Pakistan is free of corruption.

It is clear that they're very anti-present government officials. But then again, isn't every Pakistani?

Re: Something I noticed....

LMAO!!! Excuses excuses excuses. Do you watch some of our live shows? Do you see the indepth analysis they go into? There are some shows in my opinion which are better than stuff in the West. I personally love Counter-Point. Great show, great subject are discussed.

I have found the media at par with many International standards. Far better than the stuff I found in the Arab world, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia.

Re: Something I noticed....

^ Especially when the Mush henchmen put up a great show (wasi zafar scratching his balls, the mqm guy defending altaf's anti pak statements in india, durrani putting up a great show for ppl who want to learn puppetry etc...)

Re: Something I noticed....

Imran khan couldn't answer the ejaz ul haq statement that why is he sitting with bb and co. who said that borders should cease to exist and bhutto said he would come riding on indian tanks?

Re: Something I noticed....

Capital Talk = Our daily show. You should know such stuff.

Re: Something I noticed....

Altaf said 'the division of the sub-caaantinaant is the greater greatest beelunder in daaa history of daa mankind'... Now please explain to me what BB said, with video proof and I will try to reason it out, good sir...

Re: Something I noticed....

Musharraf did not give birth to them. And I dont think your statement is correct, not all of them do that. I, like many here (im sure you as well) did not hate our parents and their guts when we were 13.

Re: Something I noticed....

Then do you sit through the business news as well?

Re: Something I noticed....

Depends on the news channel. I don't watch Dawn News, AAJ or Geo for business news. I watch the channel owned by Business Recorder for that. They cover both policy and data.

Re: Something I noticed....

You're right Spock, I didn't either alhamdoLillah.

But perhaps I should have written

Re: Something I noticed....

Great! So you know the outlook on economy economists are presenting.

Re: Something I noticed....

I have and I do agree with most of what they say. But if you ask any economist in Pakistan i bet they will agree with my point that our economy is based on unstable ground. Look our main export and main source of foriegn revenue is our agriculture.

Our agriculture is defacto based on a feudal system. You see absolutely no benefit for the common man if we sell 4 billion dollars worth of raw cotton. It is pocketed by the feudal landlord. Economic growth is great if everybody gets a piece of the pie. In Pakistan they do not. That is my problem with our economy.

Our industrial sector contains a minimal amount of public companies. They are all privately owned and this increasing the wealth of our elite. The benefit the common worker gets is due to the benevolence of their industrial masters.

I can go on and on with my problems with the fundemental nature of our economy. A economy can growth and show benefits, but when its foundations are weak and unstable it will come down on itself.

I have said this many times and I will say it again, Nehru in my opinion was the saviour for India because of how he destoryed the feudal society in the country. His land reforms and socialist agendas really established a solid and firm ground for a modern and robust economy.

All our woes, political, economic and cultural come from our inability to destory the feudal system by which our people live. The concept of land ownership is non-existant. People do not see the welfare gain they should from their hard work. The average agriculture worker has not seen any economic benefits for the past 35 years or more.
