Re: something different?

A pot roast with baked potatoes maybe? And some risotto?

I've also found puff pastry can do ANYTHING, so maybe look up some creative recipes for appetizers?

Re: something different?

Lasagne - so easy & tasty

Shepherds Pie - as above

This is the first thing that came to my mind too!

For starters you could do tortilla chips with salsa and cheese.

For the main you could have bioled rice and chilli con carne and maybe do some chicken tortillas or quesidillas too? You could serve this with a mixed bean salad.

Most of it could be prepared in advance too so you wouldn't be rushing around while your guests are at your house.
