Re: Someone who is diabetic...
You sure you are Desi uncle? as per Deeba, if you were, you would be dead by now by not being able to control it. Since Desi DNA doesn't allow anyone to actually control things.
Wow.. Learn to read.. I didn't say 'all', did I?
*Go and look up the statistics *(and yes, they are divided into ethnicity here in the UK) rather than getting upset because I hit a nerve or something..
Some ppl are good at controlling it but many aren't and it IS often linked to lifestyle as well as genetics.. My own brother was diagnosed at under 30 and was told by his GP that it was very serious that he needed to change his diet + lifestyle (and he is overweight but nowhere near obese).. Now he has to declare it when he applies for a job etc (he's a dr as well).. Talking about diabetes being no big deal is being naive. ANY doctor will tell u that if someone is type 2 diabetic at a young age they will likely have other problems as well, it is NOT like having slightly weak eyesight which can be sorted by just wearing glasses and DOESN'T usually come with a host of other associated health problems as well..
Anyone who thinks it's 'normal' or not serious to be a type 2 diabetic at 25-30 needs to do some serious reading..
People on GS themselves say 'oh my parents are so ill, they have diabetes. high BP, cholesterol etc so I can't move out cos they need looking after.' Would you call that diabetes being controlled and no big deal??
