Okay, so I was wondering if anyone knows why is it that they always say if you diet some of the weight you lose is water?
I mean how about if you’re drinking tons of water even though you’re otherwise dieting, is some of the weight that you lose still water weight(and therefore suppose to return once you stop dieting)?
Nobody ever talks about this issue so i’m really curious what you guys think or know about this topic
when you have extra fat in your body, it is stored as glycogen around the organs especially the liver, glycogen stores contain tons of water!
so when you start excercising and dieting and you are in enough of an energy deficit to burn stored fat around your organs you lose alot of water so that is water weight.
Drinking loads of water helps lose this extra weight! but dont ask me how its just scientificlly shown!
so once you get of these glycogen stores you start losing the fat under you skin..making you slimmer.
Thats why in first few days you lose alot of weight whiich can be alot of water.

Not sure if I really get this theory.
Fat around the organs are slow to lose. Also there is no direct relationship with fat around organs (visceral fat) and fat under the skin (subcutaneous fat) which makes people obese.

Its not visceral fat, its glycogen stores.
I dont mean the actual fat cells around the organs, its the energy stores of glycogen, its just all chemistry!
This is what i learnt, maybe its just a theory!
If you take in more energy than burn your excess foods get stored as glycogen especially carbs, so i should say that rather than say extra fat... sorry!

Got it. Thanks for clarifying.
Yes glycogen is first to go in dieting/starvation.
The way I look at it:
First to develop, first to disappear.
I am still not sure what this losing weight is to do with water loss.
You mentioned drinking loads of water help lose weight!
That is very puzzling also.
Water metabolism is different than calorie burning and losing weight. Don't know why even mix these two.
Coming to connection to water consumption and weight loss:
Its only a myth so far. I am aware of this myth circling around but it is based on very small studies and even those who conducted the studies were not sure of results.
Some say water consumption makes you lose appetite since brain cannot differentiate between hunger and thirst. Yeah right!
