you can also take a chicken breast ...dont shred it....pound it til its thin...dip it in egg and roll it in some bread crumbs, fry it in very little oil and make a chicken patty sandwich :D you can also sautee some onions and jalepenos and add that to the sandwich as well.

cream cheese and bagel

you can also buy those frozen chicken and beef burgers (if halal, Al-Safa makes them) in the frozen section of your local halal grocer. pan fry and put it in a burger bun with lettuce, tomatoe, mayo etc.

you can also do a grilled veggie sandwich/panini.

errr I would stay away from peanut butter until this recall scare is over.

chicken salad sandwich (boil boneless chicken breast, put pieces in a food processer and then mix with mayo and green onion chopped up.

Re: Some sandwich recipes

Steak and blue cheese? Just grilled steak with olive oil on it, some gorgonzola cheese, salt and pepper, and good ciabatta bread... yummy!

Chicken mayo, tuna mayo, prawn mayo, egg mayo all with salad is quick and easy.

You said no cooking so..... have you ever tried a crisps sandwich (potato chips for the yanks ) ? everyone eats them here in the UK... i think they're weird but whatever floats your boat. It's quick and easy too i guess.... :)

wow
ppl you are making me hungry

Re: Some sandwich recipes

Take some cooked boneless chicken. You can shred it into smaller pieces but I prefer them bigger. Now you will also need:

3/4 cup chopped unpeeled apples (red or green)
1/4 cup celery
1/2 cup mayo
2 tablespoons yogurt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
salt/black pepper/ chilli powder according to taste
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
(adds nice crunch, but if you don't have it, don't use it)
lettuce
bread.

So, in a bowl mix the cooked boneless chicken with all the ingredients from above that are bolded in black. Take your bread, spread the filling mixture, slap on a lettuce leaf, put another piece of bread on top, enjoy. You can also just chop the lettuce into smaller pieces and mix it in with the filling before spreading on bread.

Other ideas include: Take some left over kababs and put em in a sandwich. Or take meatballs and tomato sauce....and bread...make a meatball sub.

Re: Some sandwich recipes

Re: Some sandwich recipes

Re: Some sandwich recipes

alton brown has a really good pan bagnat sandwich.. let me see if i can find it online..

Re: Some sandwich recipes

pan bagnat!! Hubby makes this really well. It's all about letting the sandwich sit in the fridge for a while, to let the bread soak up the juices.

75ml extra-virgin olive oil
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 large baguette or round loaf
1 tin tuna, drained (preferably albacore in olive oil)
1 tin salted anchovies, drained and washed
1 heaped tbsp capers, rinsed
1 white onion, finely sliced, blanched in boiling water for 1 minute and patted dry
5 wood-roasted piquillo peppers (from a jar)
3 vine-ripened tomatoes, sliced
2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
Cucumber or lettuce, sliced
Large sprig fresh basil (optional)
Freshly ground black pepper
and salt

Heat half the olive oil over a low flame and gently fry the garlic for 5 minutes, making sure it doesn’t burn. Remove and set aside for 10 minutes, then strain the oil and combine with the remaining olive oil; discard the garlic. Slice the baguette in half lengthways and brush the inside with the oil, pressing it firmly into the bread. In a bowl, mix together the tuna, anchovies and capers. Fill the sandwich: layer the onion, peppers, tomatoes, egg, salad and basil leaves, putting the tuna mix in the centre. Season.

Put the other half of the bread on top and press down. Wrap in clingfilm, weight down and chill in the fridge for several hours.

YUMMY! :)
