Muhammad (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam): His Life based on the Earliest Sources --by Martin Lings.
Muhammad Messenger of Allah (Ash-Shifa of Qadi 'Iyad) (sal Allahu alayhiwasallam) -translated by Aisha Bewley.
And if you can read Urdu:
Zikr-e-Jameel by Hazrat Muhammad Shafi Okarvi.
Zia un-Nabi sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam by Hazrat Pir Muhammad Karam Shah al Azhari (rahmatullah alayhi) (7 volume masterpiece of seerah writing).
If you -or anyone else-- wants to read about the Blessed Prophet (peace be upon him) in the Qur’an Sharif the best book, in Urdu, is “Shaan Habibur Rahman Min Aayaatul Qur’an” by Hazrat Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Na’eemi (rahmatullah alayhi).
Ali_R —the Martin Lings’ book you can get at any good bookshop or from amazon online.
the Qadi Iyad book you’ll have to get from specialist islamic bookshops or order it from a large chain like waterstones or, get it from amazon.co.uk (amazon.com doesn’t have it).
oh, another classic seeraH book which i haven’t yet read (though i have it) is
**Ibn Hisham’s Seerat Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) translated into English by A. Guillame ** . This is the oldest seerat book ever written…
Another classic if you can read Farsi (though it is also available in Urdu translation) is ** Hazrat Mawlana Abdur Rahman Jami ** 's famous ** Shawahid an-Nabuwwah **
there are countless other seerah books too but these are some must-read ones.
**“The Supreme Prophet” (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) is also an english language translation of one of Ala Hazrat’s ** seerah books. published by the Raza Academy UK. Also available from amazon.co.uk I think.
Another must have (all of ala hazrat’s books are must have though out of a 1000 books only a handful have yet been translated)
One of my favourite books on the life of the Prophet - salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam is:
1 - Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum (The Sealed Nectar) by Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri. Publishers: Dar-us-Salam.
The author is an Indian Scholar, and the book was awarded First Prize by the Muslim World League in a world wide competition on the biography of the Prophet - salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam - held at Makkah in 1979. It has been translated from Arabic into English and is also available in Urdu.
Two other renound books in their field:
2 - Sirat Al-Nabi and the Orientalists by Muhammad
Mohar Ali
An Excellent book which tackles and answers the Orientalist claims throughout the life of the Prophet - salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
3 - Stories of the Prophets by Ibn Kathir, translated by: Sheikh Muhammad Gemeiah, Sheikh Al-Azhar.
This book written by the famous Mufasir (scholar of the interpreatation of the Qur'aan), looks at the biographies of no leass than 25 Prophets from Adam (as) to Muhammad - salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam - including the stories of Noah (Nuh), Abraham (Ibrahim), Joseph (Yusuf), Moses (Musa), David (Dawud), Solomon (Sulaiman), John (Zakhariya), Jesus (Yahya) and others - 'aleyhim salaatu wassalaam ajma'een.
