Do you guys think of Khattam/Niaz as biddut?
How about reading Quran in a group and making a Duw’a?
Also according to brother Niaz’s definition of word ‘Ya’ is Naat Khawani shirak?

Bid'aat is a very big sin. Khattams are bid'aat because neither Prophet SAW did it and neither his Sahaba.
Ya is an arabic word, we call it harf-e-nida i.e. it is used to call someone. Ya can be used for anyone as long as he is in front of you like ya fulan. But in the absense we cannot use it for anyone except Allah SWT. Allah SWT is on the ARSH but HE knows all HE sees everyone HE is the Almighty. So you cannot say ya with Mohammed SAW or Ali RAA or Hussain RAA but only with Allah SWT's name. like Ya Allah, Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem .... And if you use it with anyone other than Allah SWT than it surely is a SHIRK.
It is very dissappointing to see people in subcontinent doing so many deeds which include bid'aat and shirk. Like going on Mazaars and asking them, the annual gatherings on the Mazaars, chaleezwaan, Shabb-e-Baraat (cooking halwa puri) and so many other.

Thankyou for defining 'ya' for me. i have had been using it.
The thing i dont understand is that if something which is considered biddat but it is not coming in the way of one's faith, then why is it a sin? For eg you said abt halwa on shab e barat. Normally surahs from the Quran are recited on the halwa which is then given to other people, this, i dont think is wrong.
But of course going to mazars and asking from them is a sin.
Zainab,
Mera tou halwa khanay ko dil kar raha haai.
sarfaraz
mein tow serious batein kar rahi thee yeh aap khana/peena lay ayeiN heiN.Aab tow mera bhi dil kar raha hai bohut din ho gaey halwa khaey howay woh bhi nano kay haath ka.
Oh my god, Zainab, Allah toujhey naikey ki hedayat dey, tounay yey kia keh dia haai. Kay halwa khana serious baat nahin...tou zindigi kaisay challay gi...aacha har khattam par ya aur kisi occassion par loug kushi mein kuch achhi chizein khatay hein...theek haai...
Accha ab tum yey bataao kay Eid par kia banao gi...halwa ya swaeiyan...ya feerni...ya koi aur methi cheez...aur mujhey mat bhoolna...kuch na kuch es ghareeb ko zaroor behjana...thanks...

First of all the concept of shab-e-baraat is false so any thing you do associated to it is a sin. If you want to read Quran you can read it in your home or in a Mosque or any where but why do gatherings and then read Quran, its not proved by Prophet SAW. It is just like we pray faraz prayers in jamaat so we start praying sunnat also in jamaat to get more ajar which is totally a wrong concept. But, ofcourse gathering people to teach them Quran or make them understand has ajar.

Assalamualaikum,
I think that if you do something, then a lot of times, the criteria for making it a bida(innovation) or not, depends on your intention.
If you can explain to me, what exactly you mean by Khatam/Niat, then I can tell you more.
