some questions plz help

hello

My 7 month has started and i need to know some things i will be grateful if anyone help me out as this is my first experience so im really confused about many things.

1.should i start stock up diapers (which size and how much for one month )?

2.how many wipes packets should i buy?

  1. i bought 4 to 5 newborn outfits should i buy more or buy 0-3 size ?(which clothes will easy for home)

  2. im thinking for breastfeeding so should i buy (like bottles, pacifers and others things)?

5.how many clothes do i need per day or for 3 months?

6.i have bought dresser, crib and car seat .is bouncer is neccessary?

7.i have heard newborn clothes need to get wash before using is there any specific detergent for babies?

thanks in advance… and sorry if its too many questions:)

  1. Depends on the size of ur baby… my son was avrg (7lbs) and he only wore the newborn size for about a week, then it was size 1. So i’d say don’t stock up… just buy a small pack of newborn and size 1, whichever works best buy the bulk size of that.

  2. Buy 2-3 packs of wipes. I think it’s better to wash ur baby and then pat dry with a towel before the diaper - no chemicals, safe and economical too… but everyone’s different. Try wipes and washing, if u find using wipes is easier buy bulk of those.

  3. Again, this depends on the size of baby. My son had 3 newborn outfits that he wore for a week, then we moved on to 0-3 exclusively…i’d buy more of 0-3, cos they’ll usually be handy for more than one month. Newborn outfits become useless fairly quickly cos babies grow so fast.

  4. Buy pacifiers and bottles bcos u really don’t know what situations arise where u might end up needing the bottle, breastfeeding takes time to learn and is difficult. My son used a pacifier until he was i think 3 months old… it was an enormous help for car rides but after that he was able to pull it out if his mouth and he was calm anyway, but it still helped. The bottles i got came in handy when i started school, i would pump milk and leave it for my mom to feel him.

  5. I’d say 2-3 outfits per day. Babies spit up a lot. Obvs don’t go buying 120 outfits… invest in loads of bibs and baby cloths. Have separate shirts and bottoms so in case of spit up and diaper explosions u don’t have to change the entire outfit.

  6. We had a bouncer and swing…both were useful until 4-5 months. I’d say get the bouncer.

  7. Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby sell detergents that are safe to use on childrens clothes… Tide has a line of those as well. U don’t HAVE to use those.. just wash them with a gentle soap.

thanks alot for helping me out :)

Re: some questions plz help

  1. Get starter pack for newborn babies. Best to buy two packs at least for hospital and week for home. You use a lot. I also bought a pack of one size up just in case.

  2. For newborn babies they make sensitive ones. I just bought a pack of cotton wool balls though and used those with water. Babies have really sensitive skin so for some babies water is best. Also cheaper. But if you want yo use wipes just stock up. Get them on sale or deals.

  3. Buy a couple newborn sizes and some that are bigger just in case. Don't buy too much in case they don't fit. But around 7-12 outfits is best.

  4. Inshallah breastfeeding works for you but also buy starter set of bottles just in case. Of you don't need it now you will in the future when you wean your baby so it's not a waste of money.

  5. Depends on your baby, of baby is type that is always bringing milk up then I'd say 3 pair minimum a day.

  6. Bouncer isn't necessary just preference. If you have a Moses basket then you don't need a bouncer. Up to you :)

  7. Wash them before using on your baby. There are specific washing powder for babies. Hypoallergenic and sensitive skin ones.

Re: some questions plz help

1- What is gestational weight of your baby? You can minus 10 % weight and buy diaper according to weight.
Hospital should take care of your baby during its stay in hospital.
You can buy store brand diapers or enroll in Costco membership. They have krikland brand diapers, and similar to Huggies brand.

2- You can request few packets at hospital, but you can buy one jumbo packet. This is personal preference, you can use tissue, baby handkerchief towel and warm water cleaning.
Equate brand is cheaper when it comes to wipe.

3- New baby spit a lot, you will need to change him two to three times in a day. Best practice is to wash his clothes at the end of day and hang them in washroom or whatever suitable place.
10 to 12 clothes are okay. Baby grows faster, your stocked pampers size in two week will show that you need another pamper size... :)

4- Sometime milk does not come in timely manner, and you need to give baby top feed.

5- See my response in point number 3.

6- Your personal choice. But bounce does help in elevating baby angle and may help in digestion.

7- I don't have any opinion on it.

Re: some questions plz help

thanks thronewood9,mahool and reha :)

i like the idea of cotton wool .cotton wool packet is one which we use for makeup removing or others?

im thinking to buy Avent bottles (4oz) but i think what if its not used and wasted should i buy farlin bottles those are less expensive than Avent.

Re: some questions plz help

reha which pacifiers did u buy for your newborn?

Re: some questions plz help

Dr. Brown's.

The funny thing is...I have these super nice pacifiers but he will only take the one our hospital gave him. Its a SOOTHIE brand.

Re: some questions plz help

Hire a lactation consultant and have her see you at the hospital the day you give birth and as many times after that as you need to. There is learning curve to breastfeeding and you want someone experienced and knowledgeable guiding you so you don't get pressured into giving baby formula if you don't want to. Nurses aren't always the best people to school you on breastfeeding so don't rely on their support.

And remember that stores will be open after your baby is here too so don't panic if you can't find enough wipes or don't have as many outfits. You can always buy more afterwards.
