These are my personal pictures, but they’re sort of ‘politically-related’, hence i thought i would place them in this Forum. They can be moved wherever the Mods believe them to be appropriate.
Sorry i don’t have many pictures here because my brother took a few pictures of me (and vice versa), so i couldn’t post those. Anyways i still hope some of you enjoy the images that are here.
This past Saturday, on 22 March 2003, millions of people all around the world participated in protests against the invasion of Iraq. This is the story of one tiny little protest in my neck of the woods. In true Canadian fashion, our meeting place was a park, part of which freezes up during the winters. 
You can see it in the first picture - the water here is frozen so it becomes a small ice-rink. In summer, though, it becomes a wading pool, very popular for families with little kids.
Over 2000 people attended this protest Masha’Allah.

This is another view, from where we were sitting. Behind us, there must have been at least 500 people who are not visible. There were a group of about another 500 standing by a road to the left of this picture, in order to make a ‘visible’ presence for the cars.
Police were out in full force, although you won’t see them in any of the following pictures. We even had police helicopters circling above, constantly. Out of more than 2500 protestors marching and demonstrating for approximately 4 hours, there was not one single arrest, scuffle or disturbance.

Another picture of some of the protestors and their banners. It was an extremely diverse group – contrary to popular misperceptions, it was not just university students or 'hippies'. Caucasian mothers pushing their babies in strollers, elderly women who looked old enough to be my grandmother, Sikhs, Indians, African-Canadians, a handful of Native Americans – of all ages and backgrounds Masha'Allah.

The march had started. The plan was to undertake a route that went past the federal government building, circle it twice, then continue on through a few busy streets of downtown (in order to pass by as many buildings and people as possible thus increasing our exposure), and then return to the original meeting place for a few speeches and wrap-up. i think, all in all, the march itself must have taken approximately an hour.
Not certain if the time on that is accurate; this is a building we passed along the way.

Final three of the bunch. Subsequent to the march, we returned to the original park meeting place. There were speeches and songs; the first individual to speak was a member from our local Muslim community. There were speeches from women’s groups (Women in Black, that was originally founded in Jerusalem), the head of the local trades union, a ‘representative’ from the local Iraqi community, and several other individuals whose names i can’t even remember right now. Oxfam, Amnesty, and Greenpeace representatives were all present.

This is NOT a picture from my protest, but one that occurred today in Los Angeles… That’s Martin Sheen at a peace vigil today, in Los Angeles. i thought it was a kinda interesting picture, so decided to put it up in this thread anyways.
