oh please give it a rest.
they are actors/deisgners/celebs (NOT REGULAR PEEPZ)
not saying they shouldnt strive to be more individualistic but if they wear jeans or tops it doesnt make them any more or less pakistani. our designers/actresses are our pride. and jeans and tops is not even a "western" (oh how i hate that word) dress anymore. everyone from the chinese to japanese to indian teens wear it. because its flattering, comfortable and smart. its a language that is global and that everyone understands. more people overseas can relate to u in this garb and when u are trying to foothold in the international market u need to speak that language. again not to say that u should lose your individuality completely but one or two pics wearing jeans and tops is hardly an indicator of how they usually dress.
when kurtis and indian inspired skirts were "in" last year all teenagers in new york wore them. nobody accused anyone of being slaves to the east.
if u have a problem with the direction of trends in pakistan then dont wear it. please dont question others' choices as trying too hard or cheap. because there exist vulgar sides of all types of clothing. i have seen REALLY trashy looking shalwar kamiz in popular urdu magazines where it seems like the lady's chest is going to pop out any second.

I've no problem with western clothes and I prefer to wear them when in the west but it's really wannabe when people in Pakistan try acting all western, they should be more original, it's nothing to do with Bayhsharmi or Bayhoodgi, it's about being proud of ones own identity and culture, either we're aping Arabs or Westerners, it's annoying, apna culture follow karo, nobody will respect Pakistanis for trying to be someone they're not, they don't do a very good job of it anyway, Shalwar Kameez is just as good as western clothes, wear Shalwar Kameez and people will respect you for being original and it will promote your own culture which will earn you respect, coz lets face it you'll never become Western or Arab no matter what you do.
I kinda agree but not entirely, I think we need a healthy even balance, since many times in Pakistan we are holding international conferences or business meeting which require, more professional wear, but I find in Lahore/ISB/Karachi people do balance out with Shalwars on some occasions and pants on the other so I dont mind and think its healthy from a global perspective. Anyhow, I hope people pick on the being original/ promote ur own culture /apping aspect cuz in another thread on this site, ppl are discussing wearing saris and actors/actresses from indian bollywood movies which is even worse cuz their apping Indians of all people in the world#@#?? maybe they wanna become that? cuz if thats the case then if those ppl are gonna ape 'someone' anyways, there better off apping Arabs or the West for that matter rather then degenerate/degrade into that!

theres nothing wrong with their outfits, I think there very Pakistani in style, even when they wear western style outfits, they do it in a very Pakistani kinda way so I think its quite nice!

these r not regular paksitanis ppl... these are fashion industry ppl. they have an international presence now and they have an international image hat goes along with that. plus pant and shirt are really comfortable..it is 4 me or im just used 2 it. plus when men do it as theyve been doing it 4 soo long then its ok but when pakistani women do it its like 'oh no!' come on.
plus who r we 2 judge them. i take it u all r paksitani in origin but born and bred in north maerica or uk like me right? we spent most of our life here, only if u know how it works there then i think u can comment on it. plus that how rich peole in big cities dress naywayz and y does everyone have 2 make it such a big deal? ppl like new stuff different stuff.. stuff thats different from the norm. they live in paksitan and west is and its culture language fashion is different and inspiring 2 them. they wanna git in the global image..u know with all thet echnology and stuff its becoming a small owrld..u guyz ever heard of 'the global village'?

Please dont take this in a negative sense but i think a lot of the culture spreading part relies on Pakistanis living abroad. In the true sense of it, they are the ambassadors of Pakistan's culture. As for clothing as well, they represent the Pakistani nation in every country they live in.
I am not defending Pakistani citizens in Pakistan at all, yes there is this movement towards West, it is mainly because of the influx of media exposure all of a sudden.
I hope you get my point. Lots of my friends and class fellows, who wore well clad clothes here in Pakistan have literally shifted to wearing such less clothing when they shifted to UK, US, Australia etc. i was utmost shocked when i saw girls who shifted from here, or were born abroad (Pakistani parents) wore mini skirts, strapless blouses, minimalistic capris, shorts etc. and posed in pictures with a crowd of people with them and even put them up on face book wearing those same clothes. The responsibility of sticking to the culture also lies on them. L*ike i said, i am not defending Pakistanis but i just wanted to add that this problem is not solely with Pakistanis in Pakistan but also on a large scale with Pakistanis living abroad!*

I know one of those people that IS a member of GS as well. And doesn't everyone wear western clothes? Just because their pictures have been printed doesnt mean u judge them.
