We have finally thought of naming our baby boy TAHMID Insha Allah, which means praising and thanking Allah (similar to Hamid).

However, we're still undecided whether to add an AHAMED to the name.

What do you all think? Does it sound nice?

Do you mean Tahmid Ahmed? I've never heard of the name Tahmid...I would need a bit of time to get use to it...to be honest.

Hey what do you guys think of Isa? Is it really common/popular at the moment? We don't have an Isa in our family...and I'm starting to like it. How would you spell it? Isa or Esa? It means Jesus right in English? I know Isa was the name of our prophet but is it weird to have that as a name in the gora world if it means Jesus... u know what I mean? Plz tell me ur thoughts on this name....thanks x

My friend's son's name is Eesa and I love it. I believe it's a great icebreaker in western community.. some people may not even think that Muslims believe in the prophet Eesa (Jesus) so once ou start talking about it, it's a great way of doing dawah as well, or at least in my opinion!!

I like the name Musa too!

^ I like both Musa and Isa. Both taken in my family. I think most of the names of prophets (PBUT) are taken.

We named our son Essa. I did a lot of research on the spelling. Isa is girl name in gora culture. We narrowed it down to Eesa or Essa. I chose Essa because that's how I like it. Gora never got my very simple name right so hey my baby can correct them if they pronounce his name wrong.

My husband's friend who is a doctor delievered a baby. A Jew family and they named their kid Essa so when he told the family that my friend named his son Essa, they couldn't believe it. They thought Muslims don't believe in Jesus..

Yes you are right, its Tahmid Ahmed. I like the fact that its uncommon but most importantly that it has a good meaning as well. Any more comments please. Would it be hard to pronounce or would it be alright once we get used to it?

hrm, well if you're in the west, it'll become Taamid Aamid if people pronounce the whole name or just Taamid if they go by his first. The "h" will likely become a silent letter.

i'm starting to really like the name Isa. But i am very very confused on the spelling. here are all the variations i have seen:

Isa, Issa, Esa, Eesa, Essa & Esah.

what in your opinion is the right way and would allow western people to pronouce it correctly.

I personally like the spelling of Isa, but people will pronounce it I-sa.

For the correct pronunciation, I would go with Esa. E-sa. It's hard not to get that wrong.

That's what I was thinking too... Esa seems like it has more chances of being pronounced correctly. What are other peoples opinions? Is it a good name? Do u guys like it... What will he think about his name meaning Jesus? Will western ppl think it's weird that the name is Jesus?
