Do you think for yourself? Care about others? Give a flying **** about what is going on with anything other than your tiny social circle?
Ever stop and think that the people around you are REAL? Have feelings, have their own set of worries and cares? Live their days just like you do - get up, go to work, come home, wish for more than just a monotonous existence? Ever think that maybe someone isn’t smiling at YOU b/c they have other things going on in their mind than to pay attention to YOU? That maybe, just maybe a smile coming from YOU could offset those worries and feelings of dissatisfaction for at least a few minutes? When WAS the last time you smiled at anyone other than yourself in the mirror when you were gussying up to go into your meager job?
Do you ever stop and wonder why life is the way that it is? Why we allow our lives to be bombarded with images of things that mean nothing and focus so much time & energy with stuff that won’t mean a damned thing in 5 years, 10 years… when we die? (hell, maybe not even next week!) What really matters to you?? Do you know? Do you care?
How many sins have you committed against society.. against yourself? Do you gluttonously pine over those gadgets and gizmos that offer so much in technology but actually only chain you to ear plugs or in some cases, visors - distracting you from others… from the beauty of existence. How often do you ‘unplug’ to do something with real live people? Do you drive your gas guzzler to get there? Do you ignore your pets and/or children to make sure you have the latest copy of . Do you know your neighbors? What was the last random act of kindness you witness or even executed?
How do you feel about your future? Do you worry about the impact you have on every living person you come in contact with? Do you even realize your existence has ramifications? Who’s life have you influenced? Who’s day have you brightened? Who’s heart and soul have you touched? Who’s mind have you inspired? Do you care?
Do you care that the world is going to hell in a hand basket all thanks to the greedy? The ones who want what they want and can get it b/c they have the power.. the connections.. the money to break the wills and backs of everyone else. Do you care that we live in a world of half truths and a fabricated reality brought to you by those who seek to better their own lives on the blood, sweat and tears of everyone else. Do you care that it is easier to draw blood than it is to replace it? Do you care that it doesn’t matter who’s opinion is ‘right’ - b/c there is no wrong or right opinion - IT’S AN OPINION!!! Do you care that people are trying to pass off opinions for truths and use inflammatory reverences - like God or YOUR RIGHTS - to incite feelings of patriotism and rage, yes at the same time!?
Speaking of patriotism.. freedoms and rights… At what point to I become labeled a traitor b/c I don’t believe that the world should resort to childish games of “capture the oil rig” and “pin a tail on the detainee”? Weren’t any of these people brought up learning how to share toys? Learning how to express feelings, emotions, desires? Learning how to communicate period??? this isn’t some BC time frame here people - we have translators, dictionaries, and most people at least know one English phrase (tho I’m not sure “**** you” counts :p)
So what if we’re different genders (if we weren’t we’d have a really hard time making babies!)… so what if we’re different races (that just means I don’t sunburn - woot!)… so what if we’re different religions (so you really think your God can beat up my.. wait I don’t believe in God!) And I don’t believe that wars need to be fought over who’s OPINION is better!!! Agree to disagree people - learn from each other - share ideas, values, laughter! HELLO!! Would it really be that bad if you actually LEARNED SOMETHING?!
So is it just me… talking out of my ass, or do you see these people too? Roaming around with their head up their ass, oblivious to the world around them… caring only about their current situations, caring only that they don’t have some material thing - that latest thing that is going to give them happiness for maybe all of 15 minutes, until the novelty wears off… Not caring about the people they pissed off b/c they just cut in front of them and turned without using blinkers - not caring that they upset some poor college student b/c they felt they are higher up in the ladder of ‘success’ b/c they don’t work at Denny’s - not caring that our quality of life has dwindled down to such a pathetic state that our prisons get better care than the majority of our population.
Am I the only one, or do other people see these things out there too?
