Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

Islamabad :

**Wedding Venue: **Laraib hall in I-8 Markaz … good location , excellent food , average service, quite affordable rating … their Hafeez hall, the one on the 3rd floor was the one we booked … the only downside , they dont have enough lighting in the halls … as a result it doesnt look stunning in the photoes … you need to book at least 5-6 months before the event … minimum booking time is at least 7-8 weeks before.

**Bridal Salon: **I chose Milli’s .. and do i regret big time … she charged me 16000, no facial , just eyebrow and upper lip threading and bleaching was offered in the package.

The makeup was very average , though milli did the makeup herself , I felt instead of trying to work on enhancing my natural features , she just dumped what ever she felt like on the skin … which was upsetting … the only good thing was that she wasnt as rude as allenora’s … But I will never recomend Milli to anyone again … the brand has lost its touch.

I took a photography session which cost me 6000, jehangir did it … Milli arranged it right after the makeup and he is just another fable … either he was in a hurry or he just doesnt know how to do his job properly … the pics were crap and i was hugely disappointed …

**Lahore **

**Wedding Venue : **Zafar hall … amazing place .. excellent food , excellent hall … bright and spacious … I loved their food … they are reasonable price and have good service.

**Bridal salon: **Inlaws chose Madiha’s for me for Valima … again I didnt like their makeup one bit … they just turn you into a pasty within seconds … and whilst I was getting ready there were 7 other brides in there .. and amazingly we all looked alike .. they dont listen to you at all and do only what they want… the dupatta pin up was the worst ever … and I had to fight for 45 minutes to get my dupatta fixed properly , even then i wasnt happy. They charged me 13000 Rs … In short , terrible service .

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience …

You should have read my review of Mee Lee’s … she’s AWFUL!!!

She had the girls there wax my legs with a butter knife.

sounds a lot like nikaar in pindi! lol!

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

^ CB any pictures of the zafar hall???

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

aww, i'm sure you made a beautiful bride despite all this :).

post pictures of your events!

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

Chick - that sucks i would have thrown such a big tantrum if they hadn't listened to what i have waned done on me.

Mehnaz I have seen girls here in brampton at an indian salon using a butter knife too - the metal must burn the when it touches the skin. blehhh

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

Mee Lee uses Wal-Mart make up. I kid you not. I was horrified when I saw what was on her shelf. That's why I made her use all of my own make up that I brought with me. There was no way I was putting that cheap garbage on my face. Plus she charged 18,000.

I honestly think beauty parlours in Pakistan are majorly overrated.

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

That sounds horrible, so sorry for you! 16,000 is just too much for nothing.. didnt know milli was so bad. Daniella is good i've heard.

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

^ i know 16,000 ruppes is a lot! she shouldnt have paid them if she wasnt 100% happy.

but in pakistan its annoying b/c those salons insist that you pay at the start...which is so unfair.

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience …

yes mehnaz i should definitely have read the reviews … I had very little time , plus when i went to danialla , they were charging me 20,000 and were being extremely rude … that put me off big time … plus I saw two of my friends recent pics both bridal from danialla’s and wasnt too impressed , they looked like japanese dolls !

I opted for Milli and I guess they are all just purely over rated … I showed her the kind of makeup I wanted , just natural look and she managed to turn my perfectly fine face into a pastry …when i insisted that I am not liking it , she said , just close your eyes and let it finish … people will like it !!!

I had no other choice but to just stay put and quiet :hinna:

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

I did the most daring thing I could as far as makeup was concerned for my engagement. As i am to have a proper big formal nikah soon, and my engagement was just a little gathering I did not want to spend too much on the bridal makeup. As it was more of a dua-e-kher. my fiance wasn;t even here. My MIL just wanted to intro me into the family. And there was no professional photography. I mean don;t think there was any need for it without my fiance :((

I just randomly went to different parlours, the reputed ones as well as relatively unknown ones. Alle'nora, Madeeha's New look they all started with like 12k infact more than that for engagement makeup.

Their party makeup wasn't good either. And it was costing me a friggin 9k without dupatta setting or any other service. facial etc.

I just accidently discovered this parlour in Gulberg right next to BSS liberty campus. Dolly's. original name simmel's.

I went there. Told the owner the entire story. She suggested me her party makeup (inc jewellery setting, hair styling, and dupatta setting) along with facial mani/pedi threading for 5.5k, ONLY :)

I was totally skeptical but i had my exams and hardly any time so i booked them anyway. Well, beech mei they also gave me a shock as they shifted opposite Allenora and I didnt know so when i walked to their old place it was all empty and bare and I was totally in tears.

But it all WENT WELL. i mean the makeup wasnt the BEST of the best. But it looked quite nice. The base was natural, I didnt look transformed or too cakey

SOoo ...it was a total hit and trial but worked for me Alhamdullilah :D

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

^CB.. congratulations :) am sure u would have looked pretty

i agree, the parlours are totally overrated here. Esp the big names. Madiha's is a big no no. All the brides look as if they have come out of a flour mill :/

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

oh man I remember being put through that kind of experience once in Karachi.
can't remember the name of the salon but she turned me into a Japanese Doll. Luckily it was not my wedding or anything so I went home and washed my face.

when I objected during the process she told me to close my eyes and not look in the mirror until she was finished because I would like it when it was done.

BS.

:frowning:

I was really disgusted with Mee Lee.

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

In 2006 i had my make-up done for my wedding, from a lady in her house. Paradise parlour or some name like that in Faisalabad. For 6000rs i had mehndi, facials, threading, waxing, bleaching, and bridal make up, dupatta setting etc. I think she used Kryolan stuff and didn't make me into a pastry. She's usually very busy but i specifically asked her that i didn't want anyone else in the parlour at the same time. She was totally devoted and i had the best make up ever!

Using big brand names and companies isn't always going to produce the best results. I didn't even do research, she did my cousin's make up a year before and i loved it.

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

So Jehangir wasn't good? Crap! I was thinking of gettng my photography done by them..

wow. thats amazing. you got all that in just 6000 ruppees! v lucky indeed!

Re: Some more sharings on my Wedding Experience ....

So sorry to know about your experience CB.

Where is zafar hall located in Lahore?

I just want to share a recent experience with makeup in Lahore: my brother got engaged last week and we chose Mariam khwaja for my Bhabi-would-be's makeup. She has a very clear skin and is not a bit fond of makeup and was very uncomfortable with the whole idea of it . So we preferred to get a party makeup done instead of heavy engagement/bridal package and I did her dupatta setting when she was back to the hall. Mariam charged 5k and did a wonderful job. Also, my sister got her makeup done by a lady who used to work with mighty previously and does makeup at client's place. She did a great job as well and charged 3500rs only. The products were all from good brands and Alhamdulillah we were satisfied with both of them :)
