My mother runs a small boutique, she has gone twice to NY, USA,once in 2004 ( to attend marriage of her nephew) and also in 2005.
In 2004 she took small amount of clothes like Saree, Suits with intention of selling them. She was introduced by her sister in her circle, she had limited stock. She sold it very soon.
Encouraged by response, she planned a trip for 2005 with sole purpose of selling her stuff, this time she took much more stuff.
she got lots of couried later.She againg was introduced by her sister in her circle.
She took, Kashmiri shawls, Kashmiri Sarees, Suits and Sarees with comtemporary work ( latest fashion Suits and sarees).
She did pretty well.
She did not repeat her trip in 2006 because, She felt she could not expect good sales as she could not expect same crowd to keep buying her stuff again and again.
She Plans to expamd her Market, Firstly to East Coast in USA( California and Sans francisco side), may be Canada, also Middle East, Dubai etc.
In NY situation was different, My Masi( mom’s sister) has been in NY for last 40-42 years, she lives in one of the best upscale surburbs , her friend are very affluent.
Do people buy in exhibition at some one’s home or say a restaurant in place i mentioned, ( Dubai, Sans francisco, California). Is this common( we have heard it is) whatv are the best time for each place. We have no knowledge about how the market is in Middle East,Canada.
