HHL, I was talking about the grown-up son whose wife the FIL is tempted to slap. In other words a father shouldn't slap even his own son. There is too much slapping around in the world these days, and in most cases it has made things worse. There are better ways to deal with people. :-)
Angel, a father may have a right to slap his daughter, but I think it should and can be avoided.
