Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

You mean all in politics isn't cut, clear, and dry?

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

We should also find and post the photo of Bush holding hands with one of the brutal dictators, Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabai...

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

I KNOW UTD, I was shocked too. Imagine, after all that talk about saving other people's from big bad dictators.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

There should be plenty of pictures of Musharraf visiting the White House that someone could post.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Musharraf maybe a “dictator”, but he can never be ranked alongside the ranks of bloodthirsty monsters like Karimov, Niyazov or the Wahabi’s that don’t tolerate ANY opposition in the country, and brutally put down those who dare to speak out against them.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

You mean like the ayatollahs in Iran?

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

^ not quite. try again. :)

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

No like the late Shah Reza Pahlavi.

He was one of those brutal and blood thirsty monsters, who brooked no opposition to him, killed his opponents, and ooops…he was supported by the USA till his dying days as well.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

You guys want to rate dictators with the ones supported by the US as being evil and the ones you support as benevolent. Talk about hypocrisy. You know what they say about stones and glass houses. I suggest you get out the windex and clean your own house before you start looking for stones to throw.

The US chooses the governments they support by the degree to which they further their interests and the alternatives to that government. No one is denying that. Why should they? Iran is a good example as we now have a terrorist supporting theocracy developing nuclear weapons that will inevitably fall into extremist hands. Pakistan couldn't be trusted with the technology and there is no reason to think Iran can.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Not all non-democracies are evil.

Neither are all democracies benevolent.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Then it's all a matter of opinion to what an individual or government thinks is evil or benevolent, so don't blame others for having a difference of opinon. Minah, you are right. Some dictators are good.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Democracies that go around killing millions of people in other countries to “further their interests” are bad. They are just as bad as those dictatorships that slaughter their own people on the streets, if they dare protest against them.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Clash of civilizations dude. You want terrorist-harboring, terrorist-supporting theorcratic governments to rule the world, I want democratic, secular, capitalist countries to shape the future of the world. Difference of opinion.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

You support "secular, capitalist countries " killing millions of people in foreign countries “to shape the future of the world” based on their own selfish and strategic interests. I don’t see anything democratic about that.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

^^ Exactly all that shaping of the future by pragmatic and benevolent democracies since WWII has been the biggest contributor towards the rise of so called terrorism....

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Millions were killed by the non-democratic countries of Russia, Japan, China, Germany and Pakistan over the last century. The US, while no saint, has been the leader that has transformed the world from a handful of democracies to over 150 in those same 100 years. It's all about the greater good.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Quit arguing about who is a good dictator and who isn’t. The Americans have bigger problems to worry about like:

Where are the missing 20 billion US dollars? Too bad the CIA agents are too busy vacationing in Italy or they might help. Or maybe they already know

Third world greed and corruption from a first world country.

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

skhan ;) who said it was CIA - it disappeared over there and nearly everyone knows that a little grease helps things run a bit smoother, no?? ;)

Re: Some dictators are good though, right?

Marshal law sounds like MasshaAllah...A friend from Pakistan told me.
