How many of you are interested in Sufism? Can you recommend any good books about the subject?

I just have books of writings and sayings of all sorts of Sufi philosophers. There's such a wealth of knowledge around the internet and what not that no particular book will satisfy you, just read whatever you can get your hands on and I'm sure you can find things that will help you out with your research.

The Quran is pretty much the best book to read if you want to understand any religious philosophy directly, without dilution. However, some of the Sufi scholars have provided incredible insight into the relationship between the Creator and Man.

One of the best books I know of in Arabic is Kitab ut-Tanwir Fi Isqat ut-Tadbir (Book of Illumination in Projective Contemplation) or similar translation ... by Ibn 'Ata 'ullah Al-Iskandariya ... There is an English translation of it, but be warned it is translated by a non-Muslim. There may be a Muslim translation available as well but the existing version is widely available. I have the full Arabic in word format and attempting to read it from Arabic.
