Did they mention anything about preventing ice-damming on the roof? From my experience atleast, any obstruction on the roof, be it gutters or skylights, has the potential of causing ice dams on the roof which can not only decrease the life of the roof but can also potentially cause leakage issues.

would they not act little bit like heat trapper.. like those sun water heater on the roofs ?
