we’ve probably all heard about the solar eclipse that’s going to be happening mostly worldwide..
i don’t think it’s gonna be hitting north america, so i’m interested to know that those people living in countires where the solar eclipse is expected to happen..are you going to go out and look at..? with the proper eyewear of course..?
or ..it’s really nothing major for you.
i personally think it’s really neat. never actually looked at one though..
and how come they say that looking at an eclipse with your naked eye is bad for your eyesight?
^ As far as I heard, when eclipse takes place, the radiation is 1000x (or perhaps more) stronger than normal sun. Therefore, its a nono to look directly at eclipse - doing so may make you blind (not instantly) but will effect your eye-sight.
This occurs, because the moon is directly in the path, and the radiation is blocked by the moon. However, the sides of the sun are still visible.
I remember when I was in pak, once there was a solar ecplise. Our schools were all closed but businesses like banks and stuff were open. Our parents would make us close the curtains and entrance doors.
And don't ever try to look at one as it can make you blind. Lunar eclipse is not harmful, you can look at it but not solar eclipse. I remember next day in the newspaper there were stories of people getting blind or having eye sight problems because they directly looked at the eclipse.
so when the light of the moon and the light of the sun are together..their radiation increases?
cause we can look at the moon and we can look at the sun (we shouldn't ...but we probably all have once in our life)..
i just find that there's more awareness when an eclipse is happening about how people should protect their eyes - so i guess there must be more of radiation ..or something
I had the chance to see it in year 94/95...it was almost 94% eclipse...I think full eclipse occurd in philipines. My parents also told us to stay inside and not look out at the sun....but I still did...well not directly :D
It got very very quite and yellow out side. All the birds noises stopped, our cats looked very freaked out and they were sitting their face hidden in the corner. It was complete silence for almost an hour. I think animals can feel it a lot.
Too bad I wanted to see a pitch dark but that never happened.
