Sohail Rana

okay so his come back to pakistan showbiz made me wanna start a thread on him. he is an amazing lyricist and music composer and knows what he is doing…we seriously are in dire need of people like him. I remember on nks he said his composition “aaj jane ki zid na karo” sung by farida khanum was completely copied in the monsoon wedding (film) in all its originality without his permission and they didn’t even bother to give him or the singer credit for the song. he is planning to file a law suit against the director of the movie. and he also said several other of his songs were copied by so called “great” singers like asha bhosle and others who never asked for his permission. what are your thoughts on copyright infringements. and also please share your memories of songs composed by sohail rana and his movies.

Re: Sohail Rana

Re: Sohail Rana

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM!!! :) Well maybe because I grew up on his kids' songs. I remember when I was young, I went to one of his tv shows for kids (sung sung chaltay rehna was it??) Can't remember the name of the show since I was quite young. And I remember I couldn't sit on the folding chair too well since my weight couldn't hold the chair down far enough for me to sit on it LOL so all the while I was there, I had to sit on the edge of the folding chair and maybe that's why I remember going to the show so well HAHA!
Apart from that memory, his children's songs are engraved in my brain! It was absolutely fabulous to see him on Bushra's show and waiting for the Geo special as well. I did not know about his film contribution. I only learned about that after watching Brunch with Bushra :)

Re: Sohail Rana

I passed the audition to one of his shows. I was 5 then. During the recording, when they turned the lights on, I started crying :hehe:. Producer came and took me away.

Damn it, if I stuck around, I could be a famous singer.

Have u guys heard of his composition called ‘khyberMail’. If you have not, u should. Its a train journey from peshawar to karachi, all musical.
