I have heard about ‘emule’. Is it good? Any saftey precautions?

nothing is secure, the way you want to have it. :halo:
If you have a good working Antivirus, and most importantly use your own ‘common sense’ when downloading files, then there is nothing to worry about.

whenever I download anything from a p2p connection, I always install and run them on a VM, reducing the risk of infecting my main machine. I have infected the VMs way too many times with so many p2p programs, I know that no p2p software is safe.

^^I do that with all the CD’s I get from Pakistan. Can’t tell you how many PC installations I’ve destroyed by those CDs.

try limewire. i mailny use it for music downloads.
but for everything else, i’d recommend BitTorrent. use the clien BitLord ver.1.0

Its securer than most things out there. Once you start the program, you choose a HUB to log into.
Each hub is regulated by BOTS (automated scripts) and Admins. Each hub has their own rules, therefore people sharing crap etc are kicked out.
doesn’t "save’ you from viruses, but since its acutal people sharing files - v.rare to get virus. I have been using it for years never got one.
You also have certain UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD slots. More hubs you are logging in, each hub require you to open certain slots for uploads …
In essence, its a good system. does require a bit learning curve for some (although easy).

Hell yeah, Pretty Secure!!
The so called "Public Hubs" on Direct Connect Network. RIAA/FBI/MPAA used those hubs in past to track down the user who downloaded music/films. (search google for DC Hubs+RIAA,FBI blah blah)

I've pretty much given up on P2P. I simply install the trial versions and work my way around. It's a lot simpler, faster, safer and reliable.
