I usually get most of the software from my company but when I need to buy something outside, I go to University Bookstore or a few computer shops in town. Have never bought it online …
Where do you guys buy your software (No, I am not interested in knowing how one can copy it & don’t need to buy)? Any good online sites that do the trick?

mysimon.com
pricecentral.com
both do web crawlers for prices. both hardware and software.
For software, the first thing is to determine what software we want, for a particular need. For that I typically use download.com (cnet.com or zdnet.com) which give a list of software sorted by Freeware, Shareware, trial or paid versions. Read reviews and then decide which software you actually want. From that point on, if u actually decide to go for a paid software then mysimon.com is quite handy.
Mostly I used the installers I brought from Pakistan, but I did buy antivirus (McAfee 6.0) cz it was available for $39.99 with $40 mail-in rebate. I only paid sales tax. The next one which I bought was the Firewall (ZoneAlarm). I used to trial version for 30 days, and after that decided to get the whole thing, and paid online and downloaded it directly. No problems, whatsoever.
At one time, I tried looking for a specific software from Kazaa, but no luck, so its kinda hit and miss over there. I do like to roam the aisles of Electronic Fry's and check out the newest software i.e. read their description on the boxes. Its a good past time. :)
