We had so much discussion about Developers, lets talk about Testers now.
I think we highly need them, as a developer it is hard to pick bugs sometimes as we do NOT see any bugs in our code. Most of the big companies hire testers as it is really good for the quality of the product being delivered as well as good for the growth of the company. Software testing requires a strange skill. And testers are able to see through the eyes of an innocent or ignorant user and wonder what failures of user experience could occur. Testers and developers should have good understanding as the process keeps going in circle.Over all, I believe automation is the future of testing as it has already been introduced. Some body who knows Manual and automation would make a perfect Tester. Share your views dear developers?

Tester or System Analyst ? I think before development of any software we need a system analyst who will recognized all the problem while working with user or work as user and then will ask developers to developed a database.
In many small organization some managers decide to develop a software and advise developer to create it. After creation users cried out and that software gets failed. So System Analyzing is the key.
I dont think they have systems analysts these days as the developer acts as a systems analyst...
We had testers at my last job but dont have any at my new job. developers are supposed to test the products before putting them in production. I agree that we need them as developers would not test them as much as the testers will since its their job to make sure the product is tested thoroughly.

Yes, they don't have systems analysts anymore.
Developers can do unit testing but they cannot do the tester's full job. A developer thinks there are no more bugs, everything seems perfect and working to them but once it goes through tester's, they keep raising ticket upon ticket. An Agile Methodology does require full process and people to do the task. It is good to have testers to get the result quicker and reliable.
