Software Eng. vs Hardware

which one has more potential in the future>>> job market wise.
according to few, hardware is a dying profession and its better to go for software track.
I have talked to a few software engineers and have somewhat idea of the daily work load etc, but have no clue what being a hardware Eng means. i mean what kinda jobs should i be looking for, what kind of projects will i’ll be working on etc.. ------ or will i’ll be working on circuits for rest of my life.

You cannot have any software without a hardware. So how can it be a dying trade!! It is much narrower than software but sometimes that pays off. Less people available in that arena could mean more lucracative career. On the other hand major layoffs could mean more time at home doing gupshupp. So it is no different than any other career. It will evolve with time, just like software and you will need to keep learning new tricks of the trade to stay viable. In a narrow field you need to look at where are the major hubs for your industry are and can you relocate. For example number of hardware companies including Intel has a huge investments in Israel and Russia, if Intel is your target company will they hire you, probably not, they will hire Israeli and Russians first. Maybe this is not a good example, I'll let some one else give a stab.

There is a room and place for everything in this world. But bear in mind only the fittest survives. And the fittest must constantly evolve in order to stay fit.

Peace

I agree with BOSTON here, there is room for everything, its just how you take on and get the job done! any field.

no hardware can run without software and vice versa. and hardware can run more than one software in all cases. there will always be more software professionals than hardware and more jobs in software than hardware.
Choose the one you have interest and work hard, you will get what you wish! dont worry for job at the moment!
