So I was just wondering do you guys (desi) have any tradionally things you guys do at your Aghd (Nikkah)? Like do you guys dress the tables a certain way and if so what do you guys have? I just want to know some of the different traditions you guys have.
Re: Sofret Aghd
We do not let the groom take his bride to his room alone till 4 in the morning.
Re: Sofret Aghd
^ lol
Re: Sofret Aghd
what the hell does that have to do with “Sofret Aghd” which means how you set your tables? Man you people are sure messed up
, sorry I ever asked you!
Re: Sofret Aghd
Majestic there is no traditional table set up that I am aware of. Most of the dinners are hosted at the "Shadi Halls" or Hotels so whatever they dress up their tables with.
Re: Sofret Aghd
^ I know that, however I'm talking when you have the nikkah held at the house.
Re: Sofret Aghd
Even then there is no traditional table setup. The desi's place more importance on decorating the brides face with a few tons of makeup and jewerly :)
Re: Sofret Aghd
I’ve only been two nikkah ceremonies. One of them had no decorations at all, the second was my bother’s, and they had center pieces of flowers and little candleholders with lit candles in them. I think it just depends on how creative the girl’s side is since in our family at least the nikkah is always held at the girls home.
Do you have set traditions or decorations that you have at the Nikkah Maj?
Re: Sofret Aghd
^ Yes belle we do thats why I asked if you guys do. I'll show some pix

Re: Sofret Aghd
Oh wow that's neat. Sorry to be a pest but do you think you can explain the significance behind having all the decorations and sweets? Does the girl’s side set that up?
Re: Sofret Aghd
so sofret is an arabic word? I did not know.. you should have atleast showed some courtesy to translate some of Arabic for an A’jam ![]()
I was just answering your initial question:
**So I was just wondering do you guys (desi) have any tradionally things you guys do at your Aghd (Nikkah)? **

Re: Sofret Aghd
sorry I thought I did, but I just remembered I only translated the word Afghd, sorry ![]()
Re: Sofret Aghd
The Nikkah is usually at the girls house. The sweets usually means you have a sweet life, the red drinks I think means happiness, the sugar coated eggs means the birth of children, lol I’m kinda rusty sorry ![]()
Re: Sofret Aghd
