I’ve recently purchased a nice expensive SECTIONAL sofa.. I don’t know how to cover it from errr the smell of desi masalay
or the mess we make
I am sure a lot of people here cover their sofas with bed sheets and stuff but mine is a sectional sofa. It hard to cover it with one piece. Do you guys have any recommendations? Something nice, will stay in place, not very thin??
Re: Sofa Covers
There are stitched sofa covers available, although I am not sure if they are available at your location.. Maybe you can get those cheap thin fleece blankets and spread them over.. or use some old bedsheets, spread on sofa and roughly stitch with hands along the lines?
Re: Sofa Covers
The smell of desi maslay will seep through covers too. So what is the remedy to take care of that smell ? Not by covering the sofa. On that note you will have to cover everything in your home.

Is your sectional in a dark or lighter color? Ours is in the family room which we use a lot, I made sure it was a dark color and I use an upholstery cleaner once a month on it to clean up small stains (that I can’t see) and make it smell fresh. I also use Febreeze now and then. I also use The Body shop’s oil fragrances for home when I feel like it… especially when I have people coming over.

Re: Sofa Covers
Yeah its dark brown. I am just concerned about covering it with something. I know the smell will always be there. I always make sure my windows are open all day. I do use candles and stuff for the fragrance but like I said, I spend a lot on this sofa and I don't want to ruin it in any way. Mine is in living room where hubs and I sit most of the time, eat, watch tv, sleep. I can put plain bed sheets but they are so light and don't usually stay on. Did you guys get customized slipcovers?
what kind of upholstery cleaner do you use?
I use this one Amazon.com: Bissell 9351 Fabric & Upholstery Cleaner: Home & Garden
and for visible stains on my other not-so-expensive lighter-colored sofa, I use Resolve multi-fabric cleaner (don’t use it too much on Micro-fiber though, I used it only once on micro-fiber to get a bad stain out).
You can also get Scotchguard for protecting the upholstery, I’ve heard its pretty good… haven’t tried it yet though Amazon.com: 3M 4106D 10-Ounce Scotchgard Fabric Protector for Fabric and Upholstery: Home Improvement
Re: Sofa Covers
Thanks... I'll definitely look into buying one of those.
