So your wedding is during Ramadan...

Let’s say you’re getting married in the month of Ramadan. Usually the events take place in the evening hours so how would you serve iftaar/dinner. What kind of special arrangements will you make.

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

One of my friend had her nikah done during Ramadan. The nikah was right before Iftar and than all the guests stayed for Iftar. Her rukhsati was few months after.

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

I know someone who had her wedding in Ramadhan... She basically kept it simple and had it in the Masjid hall. Dressed up like a traditional bride and served dinner at Iftar time... It was actually quite nice.

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

There should be intehzaam for iftarr naturally. I placed kujoors etc at everyones tables half an hour before iftar with water bottles. There was a separate hall for namazes and a room for ladies who preferred to pray in private or separate from the men. There was a buffet with iftar stuff on the side. Nothing very heavy. Just pakoras, jalebis, chat, roh afza, bhalay. An hour after iftaar dinner was served. The stuff had been picked up half an hour after iftaar once guests were gone to pray and the tables relaid for dinner time.

I thought it was really blessed to have a nikah during ramadan. All the more prayers and the sawab of opening so many people's fasts

my nikkah was in Ramadhan. The nikkah was done during the afternoon (before dhur) and then my in-laws did an iftari for everyone at the masjid so we all went back dressed up to the masjid for iftar

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

Ramadan would be the best time to hold a desi wedding.....nothing else can make our ppm come on ti,e than the hunger for food!!! Imagine...nikah right before iftar....have iftar....and afterwards evwryone joins in for maghrib prayers followed by a combined dua for thenewly married coupme.... Rest can follow.... Lastly...ruksati at a decent hour cuzeveryone arrived on time! The bride doesnt eat much during the day anywyas out of stress....win win situation really

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

not only that, it will be simple (comparatively) .. no band baja, no music function, no daance shance ..

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

^^ I have seen Pakistan that they do all the band baja after iftari.

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

my friend got married in Ramadan. She dressed up as a bride (she's Moroccan) and her husband (a white convert) came with his family and they did the nikkah in the masjid. It was simple and nice. And every year they sponsor an iftaar for the masjid on their anniversary.

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

I think wedding in ramzan is not good .

Re: So your wedding is during Ramadan...

I have never heard of it nor have I been to a ramadan wedding but it seems like a nice idea. Nikah before iftar and then iftar and dinner for the guests afterwards. No pomp and show and everything is as simple as it can get. And then one can get soo many duas!!
