do you really?
answer this question below and I will give u an Impulsive Award of the year
3 guys go to a shop and buy a TV which costs £30. They each pay £10. They take TV home and it doesnt work properly. They take it back to the shop.
The shopkeeper is sorry for the trouble and says to the delivery driver “here is £5…give this back to them with the TV”.
Driver sees the 3 guys and cant divide £5 between the three guys. so he gives the guys back £1 each and the driver keeps £2 for himself.
So in other words, it cost the three guys £9 each for the tv (after they each got £1 back).
so £9 multiplied by 3 = £27
so altogether it cost them £27 for the TV. However the driver only kept £2 for himself. that makes £27 + £2 = £29
question is :** where did the £1 go? The total shouldve been £30.**
confused? so am I

Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
answer my question.....that I asked in the end.....dont give me other ways to work it out. what I said was if they all ended up paying £9 each....that makes £27. and driver keeps £2....so that makes £29
where did the £1 dissapear?
Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
They didn’t pay 9 dollars They paid ten dollars.
You can’t just assume that since they got paid back a dollar, that they PAID one dollar less.

Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
fine, AS YOU ASKED:
set 1.
price: 30
each shared: 10
set 2.
price paid back: 5
each given: 1 (3)
driver took: 2
set3.
paid back = ( each given ) + (driver took)
fact that you are mixing set2’s results WITH set1, is in laymen terms, is attempting to calculate horses minues oranges.. WHICH wont work..
there is no disappearing dollar, just twisting the question
so IN END, your question is not right ITSELF, s i m p l e.
Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
They didn't get 3 quid off, between the 3 of them they saved 2 quid from the total price.
So their saving per guy is is 10 - ( 2/3) = 9 1/3

Ahaaannnn…yea that’s exactly what I was thinking. Something to do with 1/3 of a dollar…

thats not true. they paid $9 each. so they paid $27. out of which $2 went to the driver. $25 went to the seller.
Re: So you think ur CLEVER?

Re: So you think ur CLEVER?

ps. Maddy u make me laugh trying to act extra clever…and coming up with stuff that makes no sense at all.
Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
No, I just speak on an intellectual level that’s too high for a Brummie to understand. Or a Kalifornicationian too, for that matter

Re: So you think ur CLEVER?
Its all how the ques. is asked
When the friends paid $10 (or pounds) each, they had paid $30 in total
When the shop-keeper gave $5 to the delivery driver, the 3 friends had paid $25 to the shop-keeper and $5 to the delivery driver for the delivery. <------ This is the tricky part, 25+5= 30 (total cost)
Now when the delivery driver gave them $3 each, the friends had paid $25 to the shop-keeper and $2 to delivery driver $25+$2 = $27 = 3 x $9.
27+3(that the driver gave them back)=30
SOLVED ;)
