Re: So why do you fast

So I can wash away all my sins from through out the previous year and feel virtuous/pious again, just in time to get started again for the next year. :chai:

Allah ka hukm hai. That reason is enough for me

Re: So why do you fast

so that you and i may achieve taqwa!

Re: So why do you fast

Why do we take shower? :chai:

Re: So why do you fast

^ I don’t

Re: So why do you fast

not a legitimate answer

aap jawab de dein…looks like everyones passing the question to someone else…cuz they dont have an answer..

…not eating for prolonged periods of time washes away your sins?

ok

showers cleanse us and we see immediate results…dunno about not eating/sleeping most of the day/and then gorging at night.

To remind us how fortunate we are - when we’re hungry, unusually, we’re able to just up and get some nom noms. But, not everyone has it that easy. :bummer:
So kinda, or at least should, put things into perspective.

Oh, and cuz my mama gets mad at me for not being a good little muslim girl and doing as I’m expected or stuffs like that.

:hinna:

Re: So why do you fast

It is farz and Allah’s command. With that..fasting teaches us to be patient..and not take things for granted. And if we do fast properly..then Allah forgives our sins throughout this month. May Allah accept our prayers and fasting this month of Ramadan.

Re: So why do you fast

To feel how it feels to be under privillged and be grateful for how much I have.

Re: So why do you fast

Cause everyone else does. Don’t wanna be the odd one out.

Re: So why do you fast

From what I understand fasting exists so that the resources that are already limited are spread around in a more equal manner between the privileged and the not so privileged. By way of fasting you insure that you aren’t consuming more than the amount you need for survival. That way we insure that the resources aren’t exhausted before they can get to those who do not have early access to them. But from what we see today that definitely doesn’t happen. Some people even gain weight in Ramzan because they over eat during Sehri and Aftar times.

Re: So why do you fast

its a long detail but I will try to explain. You take shower to clean yourslef, you fast for mental cleanliness. Now question is with not eating how are you cleaning your mental health. Am I right?

Re: So why do you fast

i would rather say…fasting is the “Spiritual Cleansing” while taking shower is a “Bodily Cleansing”.

Re: So why do you fast

“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness”

Quran (2:183)

Re: So why do you fast

de to diyaa jawaab post #6:

Allah says He prescribed fasting on to us, like he did before us, so that we attain taqwa [piety N righteousness]

You know..just a random thought..all of us are sinful ppl..it is from Allah’s mercy that we are able to leave things for his sake..jn return for maghfirah and earning jannah. Whole year..we do things..which we are not suppose to..so it is opportunity. My appology…for if I have hurted anyone intentionally or unintentionally..
