After today’s ODI game, here’s my take on the three youngsters:
Sarfraz Ahmed
He looked sharp and confident behind the stumps. Even though we didn’t get to see his batting, but a keeper’s primary job is to keep wickets and he’s pretty good at it. Definitely should be given a chance ahead of Akmal in the Tests.
Fawad Alam
Scored useful runs but looked a bit out of sorts. Maybe it was the nerves, or the pressure of India-Pak match, but still he managed to chip in a useful contribution… perhaps more than Afridi would’ve. I didn’t watch his bowling, but his figures don’t look impressive. Should be given more chances, but it’s a moot point since it’s already been declared that he would be heading back home.
Sohail Tanvir
He had his best bowling figures today, but has bowled impressively throughout the series. Manages to keep a perfect seam position, and has a good outswinger and an excellent yorker. He can even bat aggressively down the order.
Even though Sami has earned his recall this time by performing in the domestic circuit, I’d still prefer to play Tanvir over Sami. Tanvir has the added benefit of being a left-hander.
Rao Iftikhar
Rao has bowled quite well during the series, has picked up wickets, and kept a tight line and length. Too bad that he too will be flying home.
Re: So whats's the verdic about new guys: Sarfraz, Fawad, Tanvir
i very much agree with the assesment. i, however would grade Fawad Alam a bit more. his contributition at the end was impressive. his bowling in conditions where it was difficult to grip and against the opposition that is best against the spinners was still impressive. he should have been preffered to clueless abdur Rehman. sarfraz needs to keep wickets in tests. Shoaib needs to start trusting youngsters and not follow the same mistakes that Inzi did.
Re: So whats's the verdic about new guys: Sarfraz, Fawad, Tanvir
Way too early to be making any final judgements.
Sarfraz: Truth is that given our current standard of keeping even Maria Sharapova would look good behind the stumps (ofcourse she would), so we are all sort of looking at sarfraz like he's our saviour. But still, marks for aggression and intent.
Fawad Alam: Looked out of sorts but you have to say *tinkay may jaan dekho, Allah ki shaan dekho. *Being inserted in such a tense scene is never each for the best of the best either. Though technically flawed he showed intent and courage, top marks for that.

Tanvir: He's a keeper!!!! (no not wicket keeper)
that was a good post cheegum bhai! very funny, especially the sharapove part
Re: So whats's the verdic about new guys: Sarfraz, Fawad, Tanvir
Sohail Tanvir have been very decent with both the ball and at times with the bat, so far in the International scene. He should be featured more regularly as to develop and hone his skills. He has kept a marginally fine place in the side, and should be included for more matches in the future. Definitely a cricketer worth looking for; true merit and fine skills.
Fawad Alam is more or less in the same boat as Tanvir. His performance should be given more light outside of domestics. Whether or not he is a valued player will be decided once a series or two is stretched and his performance is benchmarked.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, I am just baffled on him being benched while less deservants are stamped in with no objection from the coach, the captain and the selectors. This is just beaten to death. After a long hue and cry, Kamran Akmal, 'injured', sits out for one game supporting a broken thumb. What happened to long-term injuries?
