So tell me what you would do?

If you have one chicken, cut into pieces and only the regular spices and whatever herbs and vegetables that we usually have at home. How would you cook it?? That means we do not have any Shaan, Mehraan, Rivaaj Masala.
Share with us your simple yet wonderful recipies. I will also post mine later

I like baking or grilling not much of salaan person. Probably just marinate it with thyme, lemon, salt, pepper and olive oil. And on the side, herb potatoes or rice.

Really depends on the mood ... and also it's boneless or not.

im too lazy to cook it, is eating it raw an option

Add some oil to a pan. Stir fry the chicken peices till tender. Add salt, turmeric powder, crushed green chillies and red crushed pepper flakes. Fry a bit and then add chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, chopped scallion. Remove from heat once onions soften down a bit. Add dhaniya.

You can add bell pepper and mushrooms too if you wish.

I would probably make karhai chicken with tomatoes, green peppers, salt, oil and mirchey. I prefer beef over chicken, so dont cook much chicken.

Thankyou guys for your replies and please keep them coming.
Ahmedjee, I prefer one with the bones but its upto you. With boneless chicken though, you have many options.

Marinate chicken with whatever spices..:p
And chuck it on the bbq..
stir fry vegies..
i know wot im talkin about :o

Boil the chicken and shred. Add mayo salt and black pepper, some lemon juice too. Add some mashed boiled egg too if u wish. Cut lettuce very finely. Get bread, fill up with chicken/mayo mixture. top with lettuce and second slice of bread :yummy:

I would make chicken karrahi and aaloo ka bhujia. Eat it with Pepperidge Farm's thin whole wheat bread.

This question reminds me of Ready Steady Cook. Green Peppers or Red Tomatoes?

it can be baked or fried..or could be a combo of chicken and vegetables..at my place we make chicken with any vegetable possible..i usually like khata khata taste..so my recipe has to have either tomato paste or yogurt or mango powder in it.

I'll share my favourite recipe of hara masala chicken..

take one onion..bhonofy it..add one tsp of salt, half teaspoon of chilly powder, 1/2 tsp corriander powder, 1/2 tsp mix of saunf powder or garam masala (whatever you like)..bhonofy that..Add 1 lbs of chicken and bhonofy that for few minutes...

on the side..blend bunch of corriander leaves, green chillies and a cup of yogurt and a bit of wate in a blender..

add that to the chicken..let it cook until the salan is ready..

eat the salan with roti..or rice..whatever you prefer.

I would wait for you to make-up your mind on how to cook it 1st, then I’d happilly eat it to tell you if you did a good job or not. :k:

Thanks guys. :–) Fungo, you and your pepperridge farm bread. I asked for recipies. Qrius, welcome :flower1:

I haven't been to the kitchen for sometime and I guess its about time I pay a visit or two and cook/bake something nice. HAven't done baking since I left the university. I gotta do that too.All I have cooked (whatever little I have cooked :o is daal (pulses/lentils and vegetables).

Fefe, that recipe of yours shredded chicken with mayo was just yummy.

Qrius, I have cooked that green masala chicken once but with cream.

Okay folks, my first ever post, so be nice, y'all!
Here's what you can do, and trust me, the result is worth it.
Fry 1/2 to 3/4 of medium sized, thinly sliced onion in a little bit of oil till it's golden brown. Add the chicken pieces and a half to one teaspoon of turmeric. Stir fry till the chicken has PRETTY much dried up with all the juices it had to release. Once it starts to brown up some, add salt (to taste, I know, it's kinda vague, I add about a tsp. and then recheck at the end), about 1/2 a can of diced tomatoes (the small one... 14 oz.?), julienned ginger about 2 tsp., thinly sliced garlic about 7-8 good sized cloves, about 3-4 serranos or jalapenos (this ones entirely up to you as far as quantity is concerned). You may or may not want to add "Lal mirchi", I never do 'cause I add WAY more than 3-4 serrnaos :) Let it all come to a simmer, then lower heat, cover and cook on low heat till chicken's tender. Works best if the chicken pieces are not too big. Takes me about 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes max. from start to finish, with the traditional sized "Chicken Karahi" pieces. Anyway, lemme know if any of you try this and how it turns out.
