So really what if a bride is fat?

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

if the groom is fat then don't mind it........

its ok in our society

but if the groom is fit then u better loose weight.....

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

Losing weight for the sake of being healthy should be your goal and healthy and toned don't always necessitate a huge weight loss. One of the worst things you could do is go on a crash diet before your wedding, shed the pounds only to gain it back later on.

Some of the posters above have suggested some great ideas. Eliminate the stress from your life, I know easier said than done leading up to the wedding, but learn to NOT feed your stress. Eat reasonable-sized meals and add some physical activity into your lifestyle, even if that's just walking. Don't eat junk food and don't eat super late at night.

And the most important thing, be happy with yourself and excited about your future and learn to dress your body-type the right way. Very few "real" women are a size double-zero Japanese, but they nevertheless work with what their body type is and ensure that their clothes flatter their figure with the right cuts and fabrics.

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

DaffyDuck,

Don’t be worried. 3 months is enough time to lose weight. Losing a maximum of 2 pounds a week is considered healthy so technically you can lose about 24 pounds until your wedding. However, we all know thats not easy. So first of all you need to decide what is the least amount of weight you want to lose and that you would be happy with on your wedding day to keep the goal realistc. Secondly, you need to have a plan of how you are going to lose weight. Do you have large portions? Or is it that your portions are small but the foods you are eating are calorie rich foods?
-If your portions are bigger than you need to eat food that is low in calories so it fills you up but your calorie intake is less.
-If your portions are smaller but the food you ar eating is calorie rich then you need to eat stuff that is low in calories (duh! i know but hear me out
-You said you are not a fan of veggies and fruits..and I totally understand..come up with things that are healthy and you seem t like it..do you like eggs? if yes then you can find those egg white cartons and incorporate egg and cut donw on something that you know is very high calories.

For example, I want to cut out paratha from my breakfast but still want something that keeps me full longer…so I would have 1-2 toast (which is about 190 calories) and you can have the multi-grain bread, and there is only 16 calories in eggwhite from one egg. I love mushrooms so I would make an omelete with eggwhite of 2 eggs and mushrooms. So with 222 calories you have a good hearty breakfast which would keep you full…you get your portion of proties, grains and veggies.

Find out what is it you like in healthy stuff..so let say you like carrots and broccoli then you can incorporate that as snaks with 1 tbsp of salad dressing.

I know I am just rambling on but I hope I was able to help.

p.s. you need to cut down 500 calories per day * 7 = 3500 calories to lose 1 pound in 1 week.

Thanks

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

check with your hubby on this first. He may not be happy with the proposition.

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

how can one loose these inches!!!! :( i cant!!!

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

i am also in the same boat as daffy and as she said thinking abt loosing weight make it worst, i start eating more and start craving for calorie rich food whenever i think i should loose weight.

i cant work out i seriously cant manage the time with work and shopping. erhhh!! :(

how did u loose your 7 kgs in 3 monthsssss??

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

^well its quite difficult in beginning but being positive n NO STRESS will help u alot!!!

if u think u can loose then u'll loose for sure!
all my family members were against my diet as i wasnt eating roti n rice!!!
i was eating 6times a day but healthy foods like fruits vegees milk cereals brown bread egg (omelete in olive oil)soups salads chicken greentea yogurt fresh juices lots of water plus 2hour exercise at home....

i would say include these things(not all foods everyday)in ur diet in start....its ok if u r taking calories with this diet, the 2hour workout will do the magic....n within a week or 2 u'll leave high calorie food easily....

just think about eating healthy!!

u will have fresh n glowy skin on ur wedding day and healthy shiny hair inshaAllah.....

there is plenty of time if u change ur routine now...u will have less complications with ur health later!

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

one of my friend she got married in dec 2010....her diet wasnt good like no milk,no fruits,no vegees....n she was always having health issues...she was getting fat....n still she is after 1year of marriage....she has sooooo many problems oh my god....including fertility problems...

other friend she is on diet but her diet is like DONT EAT ANYTHING! she take brown bread n greentea in breakfast nothing in lunch and one brown bread with dinner salan plus one glass of diet coke lol n almost everyday she vomits or having other problems....this diet also isnt good for ur health obviously! but i just cant change her mind....she's thin but not healthy!

anyways m not scaring u guys i just want to say that ur health is very veryyyy important!

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

2 hrs of exercise! .... not done!! not possible!

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

exercise= walk,jog,running,yoga,treadmill,abs workouts,pushups etc whatever u like....

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

I am strictly against following a diet plan. Ive seen it happening with people around me and they are having complications in their future lives due to this. Also their skins and faces are no longer fresh. So i am more for reducing the portion size instead of eliminating things completely. As for the suggestions:

In-laws/Husband: They've met me many times & apparently not many people think i am in the fat zone. Usually the impression is im a bit over my weight. Plus, their entire family is over weight so to them im thin. LOL
**
Stress **- I used to take a lot, like A LOT till last month but with this new year .. all worries have been thrown out of the window and im trying not to care so i am enjoying...lalalalalala

Eat healthy, don't starve: This is a total LOL in my case. I cannot starve & I dont starve. Whenever i try doing that i end up treating myself with the yummiest food in the world for the pain i went through.

Always been fat - Nope! I was pretty thin till i entered this field of IT where i have to sit 9-10 hours straight. So that has ruined my routine and added 10 kgs in some 4 years.

Control under-wear: Great idea! But isnt it way uncomfortable? I can give it a shot though, i hope i get good ones some where here in Lahore.
**
Diabetes:** Its not only that i want to lose weight for the wedding jsut to look good but there is Type 1 diabetes in my family. Inherited from my grand mother to my mother & her siblings. Having a higher BMI increases your chances of having Diabetes so i have to cut short on weight soon.

What I eat: Its the lunch time & the pastas/rice/roti available with the yummiest of Chinese/Desi gravies that i end up over eating. They are a major cause for the weight gain these days. they are irresistable and there arent any other less-calorie options available here. Lately i am trying to just take the Chinese gravy & avoiding the rice as much as i can. Ive reduced the pasta portion size to a minimal as well. But the sweet dish is sometimes difficult to ignore.

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

SGC - Please share the recipe of that salad you're talking about. All salads i end up loving either have Mayo or cream or something equally fattening in it. Goodness!

so true thats what has happened to my friends who are strictly following the wrong diet plans and having bundles of complications…n still they r thinking that they r on rite track :smack:

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

your office has a nice kitchen i guess well mine is underconstruction rightnow i wonder what will i do when i ll be having a proper mess in my office :|

I saw a pic of a woman who was totaly obese and her hubby skinny on her wedding.. Pakistani bride.. Duno if i should post them.. It shocked me into just sticking to my routine. Like u daffy i cant cut everything i out so i cut down. Also i go gym and do a mix of cardio and weights to help tone aswell. Just see hw u get on and try to incorporate some excercise even if i dance in ur room for an hour.! Inshallah ul look lovely either way.!

P.s i crash dieted once.. Nt a good thing and it all piles back on..
Plus im also tall like 5'8 and dnt like the whole stick thin look as long as ur healthy and comfortable its fine.

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

If you can't get to the gym then try work out DVD's! there's a fitness thread on Jillian's 30 day shred which works for a lot of girls on here and the thread motivates people too! Try it!

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

My dear,

You are going to become a bride and enter a wonderful and sometimes scary part of life. Reflect upon the sanctity of marriage and new adventures.

You are not fat, you are beautiful. You will be gorgeous on the day you get married.

Forget the diets and fads and the low-carb, no-carb crap. Wedding planning is stressful. How about take a walk everyday with friends for 30minutes? Discuss everything but planning and use it as a time to rest your soul and be rejuvenated. You may only lose a couple kilos, but you will feel so much happier with yourself.

The world is full of status-quo and expectations. Take a deep breathe, and tell all that to bug off.

**Repeat with me, I am going to be a beautiful bride.

I am going to be a beautiful bride.

I am going to be a beautiful bride.

**And you know what, send me your wedding photos and I’ll feature them.

Hugs and wishes,
Preeti

Re: So really what if a bride is fat?

I was a fat bride...who cares? In the end if your hubby is happy with you then why worry about the rest of the world? I ended up not caring about dieting and during the stress of the wedding instead of gaining weight, as I do when worrying about it, I lost 12 pounds not caring at all. Don't stress wedding is just a day look forward to the rest of your life!
