There was a time when all kids loved the Pak Armed Forces, and aspired to be part of it, and same went with the grown ups, everyone spoke of the Pakistani army in a good way. But now thanks to this one impotent general, I have seen how much hatred he has generated for the armed forces. Musharraf is obviously so hated amongst the people that even his handpicked lotaz dont mention his name in their paid rallies because they want to distance themselves with a corrupt person who used the fauj’s power to come to power and drag on and on, unleashing one of the most hated regimes in Pakistan, if not the most. Even in Zia’s times people were still respectful of the army, no matter how much they hated the man himself. I dont see this image coming back unless Musharraf steps down and goes into self-exile somewhere, and the Army issuing an apology the people of Pakistan for not doing what they are supposed to do.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Army wasn’t very popular in balochistan / sindh before that much. My brother was in NWFP in the nineties and he saw a pathan pick up and throw an army guy when the army guy told him to not do something on the rail platform.. ![]()
I think the army is worried about its traditional base of Punjab and also parts of NWFP. Maybe a punjabi COAS Kiyani will help matters in Punjab but NWFP could be tricky..
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
So just because your brother told you about this one railway patri incident, you based your entire opinion on that on anecdote? Great thinking, and btw, whatever you said in your first sentence is not true, I have spent considerable time in NWFP due to close proximity and the army has been highly respected in the NWFP. Also, if you do something like what you mentioned to an army person in Pakistan, the entire batallion comes after you, not to mention what a simple FIR for hitting a govt employee, esp an army person can land you in.
Btw, I am sure the first thing you must have looked up when Kiyani took over was which province he belongs to, because of yoru sheer anti-punjabi sentiments, but thank you for letting me know, I was wondering about it the other day ![]()
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Wasn’t it this forum that conspiracies were abound as to when musharraf will be overthrown by kiyani? And why do you believe musharraf was made army chief by gunja in the first place? You still haven’t answered what kind of “game” gunja played with sajjad ali shah in the supreme court?
QUestions, questions but no answer from our Spook! ![]()
And no, no battalion comes in NWFP if they pick up and throw an army wala! If it were the case then the army walas wouldn’t be dying like flies there. The army still believes in the martial theory and pathans are higher on the scale than the punjabis, aren’t they? ![]()
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Now I know sometimes you see things (just like how you said I mentioned how i was sad to see that shaukat aziz go), where in your previous post did you mention sajjad ali shah? Btw, since you want an answer, Nawaz Sharif was a waste of skin but he was never a racist, and to prove that, he had alliances with the MQM and ANP in the past. Now dont start saying I support him because i dont.
Again, bringing in sajjad ali shah out of no where in this post and asking me where I never answered about him before just proves to me youre on medication.
You are talking about Swat, there was no batallion posted over there, so stop making things up. Just goto Peshawar Cant, try beating up an army walla like you said (which I doubt, no offence but Pathans are very strong, and you dont stand a chance), and if by some miracle you succeed in throwing him down the rail patri like your brother who whoever you mentioned, you will find out what happens to you.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
I'd like to note the difference between anger against GHQ or the Generals which is different from how people feel about jawans and army traditions. The obvious infiltration of Generals into civilian areas and associated corruption and land qabza activities have tarnished the image of senior officers. Today, people see a General and see corruption, loot-maar and money making. No wonder Pakistan has been rated as more corrupt today than even during Nawaz, Benazir times - which would have been hard to believe.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
How has Pakistan been rated more corrupt compared to Nawaz and Benazir times? Do you have proof or is it wishy washy theories? Pakistan was number 1 [in the top 5] in the nineties and now it is in the fifties. It is sad how many pakistanis have turned the whole radius and are now supporting filth like gunja / BB! :(

Do you even know what the rankings are right now? Pakistan is considered more corrupt than pre-1999. This is coming from agencies such as Transperancy international etc.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
So Pakistan is in the Top 5 on the list?

Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Spock,
I agree with you. The main reason for this hatred is involvement of army in politics. When this happens, army no longer behave like professional army. Kicking elected PMs and trowing Constitution of Pakistan in garbage by successive dictatorships is the root cause of this down fall.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
It should've happened the first time in ayub's time when he dissolved the constituent assembly but I guess it didn't affect those people from some provinces back then because all was frell in their own provinces. Who cares if bengalis didn't get their fair share, right?
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Thats the thing shriek, it didnt, even in Zia's time (the WORST leader, the only guy who beats Musharraf), the army still maintained its prestige. Now its a totally difference picture, with books like military inc coming up, the media showing corruption in the high ranks, army wallaz in civil depts giving corruption a new definition, but the worst is Musharrafs image, which is hated by the people of Pakistan, and sadly they have begun to hate the army because of him too.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Army is a lot bigger than musharraf. The reason there is hatred is because of operations in NWFP [tribals or not, there is still some sympathy for them in NWFP] as well as the sting Punjab faces as its population has exploded since the eighties. Army would’ve been gone for good from politics hadn’t Bhutto decided to do a power grab in balochistan.
And Mr. Farid still support PPP. ![]()
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Him along with millions of others, no matter how much you may dislike it. As least he doesn’t support a leader who hides in London, saying Pakistan is a mistake.
Main reason for such disrespect of Army is their massive corruption and actions against civil society. The average person in Pak does not care much about Waziristan.
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
^If you support Mush and MQM why I can not support PPP? Do you have a takleef with that?
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
He hates the huge support PPP has in Pakistan, and his blood boils whenever it is presented to him ![]()
Re: So much hatred of the Pakistani Armed Forces Now
Shriek,
Pakistan's rankings on international corruption tracking organizations has worsened under Musharraf. It is easy to see why. The same people who looted under BB and NS were chosen by Musharraf to run his show. Add to that the extra corruption by the military through the various land scams.
We have had more mega-scams in the last 5 years than under any NS or BB period - Cement, wheat, sugar, KSE, Pakistan Steel privatization, earthquake supplies diversion - you name it.

So you believe the elections in 2002 derailed us? I kind of thought too but we need democracy don't we?
Wheat scam has happened before and I think it was the reason benazir lost her second government even though leghari didn't officially pinpoint it but rather under corruption and mismanagement? We had sugar crises too. As for earthquake, I saw a report posted on this forum that said that Pakistan had done not just a bad job rehabilitating the people and houses were built by the army.
Farid, instead of b'sing, it is your job now on the forum to go find where i have supported altaf hussain. Now shabash go begin that job of yours! :)
