I am shocked. Truly. Seems you can’t even speak the truth in the US anymore.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

This must be propaganda, US is MECCA of freedom of speech, it is just Islamic countries who implements all kind of bans on humans... US is champion of Human rights.. this is conspiracy of some kind...

Re: So much for freedom of the press

Yeah I was shocked too. More importantly the 3rd world country manner in which the government got involved in the personal opinion of a journalist.

It must be some sort of prank. You know the kind she pulled with Steven Colbert when he hosted the White House Press Dinner.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

I demand to know when American media spoke truth? (Comedy central is exception).

Re: So much for freedom of the press

Not shocked at all,
these people are jokes

Re: So much for freedom of the press

yea pretty pathetic.. especially given how tame her statement was.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

author of this thread is concerned only about jews and nothing else....the language she has used is quite enough for her removal from the post....but some people have double standard for freedom of speech...

Re: So much for freedom of the press

^^ Oh well lets switch on the TV and get concerned about Shahrukh Khan or Aishwariya :D

I think you like to love the Israeli Attack on the Ships, thats why you just trying to protect "them"

Re: So much for freedom of the press

No no I am concerned about Indians as well. Don't worry your time will come.

Regardless her statement is protected under the first amendment...wait no it isn't because she spoke against the Jews.

/\/\ its a kind of degradation for me......

and what is the sense in changing the topic by the author of the thread himself.....

Yeah, that news was a total shock. I mean in 'AMERICA'??? But then again, why not? As more & more indians occupy & take control of American affairs, corruption, mental slavery, worst form of extremism (especially against muslims) & many more evils are becoming rampant in once most tolerant & open minded American society.

Basically, the above social evils were the reasons because of which Jinnah was forced to demand a separate & independent muslim land for all regardless of their creed, color, race & faith because indians were & are the most intolerant & terrorist minded creatures on this planet. So, one can expect the American society exhibiting more & more such triats as more indians take control of the American affairs & spread in that society. It is only expected to get worse.

You are mistakened. This thread is about ISRAELI AGGRESSION regardless of who lives on that land. Muslims, christians, jews, budhists or hindus. Anyone who supports the creation of that land is an aggressor himself.

A picture is worths a thousand words.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

Here is a definition of Freedom of Speech:
definition freedom of speech

The reporter has every right to express her anti-semitic views to the extent of her constitutional rights...but she does NOT have the right as a journalist to put them into print. She expressed her views as an employee of the newspaper, not as a private person. So the newspaper has every right to force her resignation, as any employer has the right to do with wayward employees.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

^ What do you say about the controversial caricatures...?

Re: So much for freedom of the press

Thats a tough one, kb...

I cannot see an american newspaper or media outlet printing or reporting material that Muslims find so offensive. The "do no harm" limitations on freedom of speech would prevent it I would think. Other countries have different laws on this.

Internet is a different story, the system of law is not in place and its almost an "anything goes" environment... so offensive materials are going to be out there like it or not. Muslims do not have the corner on that market either - there is enough offensive material and hatred for EVERYONE out there on the net!

Mama,

the first amendment does specifically cover freedom of press.

and a slight correction in order: when she made those remarks, she wasn't on her employer's time. It was a private conversation b/w two private citizens at the end of an event at white house. rabbi Nesenoff was asking random people about their views on Israel and thats when he approached Thomas to seek her views.

I find her comments distasteful but the bigger issue here is not the freedom of speech/press, rather the equal treatment of bigotry towards other factions of the society. would she have been treated with same equal ferocity had she made such comments against, say Asian immigrants in the US? would they've asked for her head? I highly doubt it. this is where the sense of injustice pops up. you can say pretty much any thing you want against a certain group of people/religion/belief and you're protected by the freedom of speech right but it suddenly becomes a cardinal sin to say a word against your favorite ones.

Re: So much for freedom of the press

I see what you're saying Saint. And perhaps I see my world thru rose-colored glasses at times but I truly think that the same type of pressure to resign would happen in US should a member of the press speak against Muslims or South Asians. These days, I think US is particularly sensitive to Muslims and Asians and careful to deliniate between Muslims and (for lack of a better term) Radical Islamists (terrorist or taleban types). Maybe I'm wong but I havent read or seen offfensive-to-Muslim types of reports from US based media.

Whether that woman spoke on her own time or not, she is a well known member of the press and thats why her comments were so publisized. As a member of the press, she has a responsibility to her employer any time she opens her mouth.

You are very worng. Am not going in to reasons why, but offensive statements about muslims are abundant on US media. Jay Severin said about muslims, "kill them all" and nothing happened, later he made a derogatory comment about mexicans and he was suspended.

Why are you shocked? An old rant but let me say it for the heck of it; the jews run the entire US economy and how can a slave tolerate any form of derogatory remarks against the master.

Spend sometime on Google and use keywords like "US Treasury, MOSAD secrets". Sharing this from the top of my head and don't recall the exact keywords and the sequence which yielded some amazing results. While you're at it, you may want to search on "illuminatis". BTW and let me warn that if you're really in a mood to dig, you'll be spending hours on the web and going EUREKA with each find...

If I were to draw an analogy, would any puppet of the current owners (Opps, i meant plunderers) of Pakistan keep theirs zipped if you or I were to pass comments that can best be described as "GHUSTAKI"?

Cheers
