But the mod did not like this and moved it to images forum now the thread is dead.

I could open it in images forum but I knew it will not be as popular and will not get as much visibility that is why I opened it in Café.
Leave the images forum for personal ,wedding or paintings of the members. If some thread has images which need to be discusses in some context let then stay in the appropriate forum.
My two cents if you agree fine if you do not agree I will stay away from topics involving images.

With the right nickname and gender, you couldve gotten away by posting that thread in General and it wouldve stayed there for a long, long time. You must never forget that Gupshup is afterall a pakistani website.

I moved your thread and I'll post a reply here as far as why the thread was moved. Then Admins can add their reply to answer your question from a higher level to let us know what they can do with the images forum.
I would've left it in cafe if you were discussing something in your original post. All you did was posted pictures and the source, that's it. To me, it sounds like you are sharing the images because you find them interesting. For that purpose, we have images forum, which needs traffic as well.
What is more important, popularity or proper classification of threads? The answer is "it depends". Cafe is the busiest forum of this board. Technically we can allow images, video, beauty, and all other kinds of threads to stay in cafe but we don't. Why? Because we have dedicated forums for them. If we allowed all threads in cafe, then we would have to shut down those forums.
Had you opened a thread to discuss a topic and posted the pictures to support your topic, I would've let it stay. For example: I am in the market to install a new urinal, which one of these should I go with?.
If admins disagree with my decision, they can make an exception and move your thread back to cafe.

Both actually... the purpose of a discussion board is to invite participation but also to act as an eternal knowledge base of the communication and collaboration that goes on. A proper taxonomy is a cornerstone of any website let alone a discussion forum. We need a good taxonomy for search optimization, traceability and filtering. The administration spends a lot of time coming up with forums / sub-forums...
Why not just have one grand catch-all forum then?
This is not to say that a thread with images cannot exist in other forums... it sure can... but in your thread, the starting post consisted of only images, and no discussion. As the OP of the thread, you need to start a discussion and illustrate (explicitly or implicitly) that your thread belongs in that particular forum... as highlighted by Shikra's example above.

........and people** are** commenting on the pictures, I was the first one to comment. As LC said, just a title is not enough to get the discussion started. We have locked threads where there is a question in the title and then the post itself is either blank or has a smiley only.

There is a thing called courtesy … yes indeed I m talking about gentleness and politeness , to me it seems missing among GS moderators ( not all ) and few admins.. They don’t like giving you a wake up call … or courtesy check as I may call it ….
No body including myself minds , if our post or threads get moved / edited …
we truly comprehend that MODs are just doing their job … But in my book , there is a polite way of doing it ..
If they kindly make sure to send a pm ( letting the person know , who did it and why it has been done ) after doing such nixers .. They could save a hell of energy consumed in writing these explanations in feed back forum..
In past , it was GS ‘s culture to deal such complaints in private but since the courtesy pms are going missing .. Every day we see Users opening complaining threads and most of the time they have no clue .. whom to approach …
I m not asking it to be done with every single post or user .. But senior members who have given a lot of energy and time to this Forum deserve such Well-mannered behavior…
I must acknowledge that there are still some good Moderators ( HHL for example ) who approach ya before doing anything and incase if it has been done in your absence , they atleast try to clarify their actions…. I strongly suggest the Rest of the crowd should follow their footsteps.

Kamran Khan's thread got moved from there when he was asking people to help him chose a wedding ring, by X2. So I guess it depends on the mood of the admin./mod.
Although I do think in this case the thread did not belong in Cafe.

arshad ppl discuss shadi dresses in wedding forum too, does not mean it will be moved to cafe. while some things may be missed, some may be a little hard to call, the concept is otherwise simple and Shikra explained it very well. sometimes things are not clear and mods have to make judgement calls, which is fine as well.

Moderating cafe is a very tricky business. Technically, everything and anything can go there but then we have other forums too and they need to justify their existence as well. I'll just talk about images here. First of all, mods are guppies first, they can also make mistakes. The key is to stay consistent and fair across the board. I too have disagreement with my co-mods when it comes to making certain decisions but we do use our best judgment based on the majority rule.
In my opinion, the only image threads that should be in cafe are the ones that wish people birthdays or congratulate them on their achievements/milestones. Those threads have kind words and may have images of flowers or teddy bears. Anything other than those need to go to their respective forum. Other than those, images should not be in the first post because that would mean you are trying to discuss the image. As X2 said, if you want to discuss wedding dresses, that's what wedding forum is for. If you want to discuss some disease, post a picture in health forum and discuss it.
That doesn't mean that the thread cannot have images at all (in posts other than the initial post). Again, if someone is trying to be smart, that's where the mods use their judgment and decided whether that thread stays in cafe or goes elsewhere.
It's really not that big of a deal, I've had my threads moved to other forums where they died, but I survived :D
