Hi
My name is Mari and I am planning my wedding. My family totally gave up our roots after part of us moved to America and after much research and searching I found that my family comes from all over india, pakistan, and egypt. My mother has no idea about any of our culture but I really want to incorporate some traditions. Are there any you think would be interesting to mix into a Taoist&Agnostic/Western/Offbeat wedding?
I really want to have my bridesmaids in gold and red lehengas(Sorry if I am not using the right terms) while the groomsmen are in tan or black suits(we haven’t decided). I have seen many pictures of brides wearing the Dupatta(?) sort of like a veil on their head and I think it would be gorgeous to have my bridesmaids all wearing this. Is it horrible to have non-brides doing that? I kind of want them all to have the traditional noserings and Tikka(?) and just look very traditional(My inspiration for this comes from old pictures of relatives weddings.)I want them to sort of lead the guests down a path from the wedding ceremony to the reception holding some form of candle. Like they are being guided by beautiful princesses to a fairy court if that makes any sense, haha.
I will be in a white lace dress with a mantilla veil, a tikka(?), anklet, finger bracelets, henna. Is there something you believe a bride just needs?
