Does Islam really teach us to be fanatic and display a higher degree of religious extremism whenever it is required?
Definitely not! but still we see alot of fanaticism everywhere.
You may agree or disagree with me on that but whatever you have on your mind write it thru…your inputs are needed.
One more thing, since Islam teaches us to respect other people of different religions & beliefs, why do we hate them?
If we think that all non-muslims have evil designs on us, what makes them do that …
what are our downsides or short-comings?
What type of Muslim you are? a low-self esteemed one or the one who doesn’t hesitate to tell his boss I need 15 min. break to say my prayers.
Please add to this thread which revolves around Islam in our daily practical life …
especially for those ex-pats living in USA, Canada or UK. There is a list of other countries where ex-pats are living but you just get the idea.
So by the word fanatic, I assume you are talking about those people who currently commit murder, manslaughter and terrorism - all in the name of Allah?
In that case the answer is easy. For somebody to do such acts despite believing in the Holy Qur’an are wrong. Why? Because the Qur’an says:
… that whoever took a life, unless it be for murder or for spreading disorder on thev earth, it would be as if he has killed the whole of mankind; and whoever saved a life, it would be as if he saved all mankind.
(5:32)
It also says:
And he who kills a believer intentionally, his reward is Hell; he shall remain there forever…
(4:93)
But you are asking why somebody would therefore do such a thing in the first place. Here’s how: In his mind - or even in his heart - the murder he commits is not murder: it is an act of virtue.
Those who do evil can be of two kinds. There are those who know that the evil that they do is evil. And then there are those who don’t. And it may even be the case that the person may be certain that the evil he does do is not evil but virtue. When that is the case, murder and terrorism can, in their minds become Jihad. And because of their behaviour, they become victims of our bum raps.
The good intentions of these “pious evil-doers” may or may not become an excuse for them on the Day of Judgement, but in this world, when murder and terrorism suddenly become the order of the day, their error of judgement - despite their good intentions - does not excuse them from the responsibility of creating unnecessary disorder and disruption in the community. So there is poetic justice in those bum raps. Such a person is not entitled to his self-righteousness. He has obviously not thought the matter through. On a subject such as that of the issue of murder and terrorism in Islam, where the hopes of hundreds of millions are at stake, thinking things through is not just good intellectual practice. It is a moral duty. There are two ways of dealing with such people: either you succeed in showing them that their “virtue” is actually evil and that their “Jihad” is actually creating disorder, anarchy and chaos and that they are rebelling against the State, or the State can simply “wipe 'em out”.
So how do you convince them? And would the State be morally justified after having taken reasonable measures towards discussion and dialogue with these people, it has too… well “wipe 'em out”?
Well in my opinion these so called Muslims who kill innocent people are causing far more damage to the 'precious Islamic way of life' then any and all non-muslim 'western propaganda' that can be found in the media today.
