So if you could direct...

I’ve been hoping for the last couple of years that pakistani films may pick up quality seeing that our TV channels are thriving and have come a long way…so far however, nothing significant has made a breakthrough. Indian films are as popular as ever, even though the ban still holds in place. I was just in Pakistan over the summer, and there are plenty of pirated copies of films easily available to the youngest of bachay. So where do we go from here?

I wanted to start this thread in the hope that maybe we can get some brilliant ideas from some talented people.

So if you could produce/direct a film with an unlimited budget, what would the underlying theme be? That is, what would be the genre and the main idea of the story? What issues would you like to highlight that have not been addressed, and how would you make that appealing to the audience? How far would you go as censorship is concerned?

All ideas are welcomed.

The only thing that differs Pakistani and Indian movies is production quality. Pakistanis actors are good. Majority of them come from TV dramas. Since Pakistani dramas are high quality so we know that these movie actors are talented. Story and plot is not bad either because I know lot of Indian movies have stolen stories from Pakistani movies. Veer-Zaara is a latest example. Music is not bad either. We have some of the most talented singer and composers but the sound recording quality is so bad that even a really good sounds horrible. I guess that pretty much it. I wish that Pakistani moviemakers had tried to make movies like Iranian films instead of trying to imitate everything what Indians do. Doing so is taking Pakistani movie industries nowhere. But I guess that’s public demand. Illiterate and uneducated part of our society do want to see semi nudity and vulgarity.

^^ That's pretty well stated. Pakistani film makers HAVE to find their own unique niche in cinema, but even then, I believe our films have been and still are a few of them ] pretty unique, I always find they are high on story and substance, if low on quality and production values [due to the budget]. A case in point is Jeeva, they made that movie on such a low budget yet were able to execute it brilliantly. It even won the director an award at the Moscow Film Festival!

Same goes for music. They make the best melodies but they are arranged so shoddily that they lose their appeal, and to the layman sound "bad", though they may be high on the quality of lyrics an the quality of composition.

Yeah, our films are [and hopefully] will be different. We dont have silly, girl-and-boy dancing on the street routines, a 100 synchronised dancers in tow. And you know what I'm talking about there.

nice ideas…:k:
