I need my own car. Driving my parents car is fine but I would prefer my own when I am in Pakistan. In that regard I have decided to go vintage. I enjoy vintage cars and I believe older cars are more durable than the modern day toyota that people drive around Pakistan.

So I need help choosing a car. I would prefer American but I can deal with a European model.

So far its a 1967 Chevy Impala - hard top. For those who don’t know what car that is - its the one in Supernatural. The other choice is Eleanor from gone in 60 seconds which is Mustang.

I know getting these in Pakistan is highly impossible, but this is not a short term plan. If I do get one of these cars, I plan on waiting as long as possible for them, including going through the process of importing them.

More seriously…out of the two you’ve mentioned…I like the Eleanor better.

I love that car.

You’d probably have to pay a lot of customs duty on it with that engine size. And if it’s a vintage then you may have to pay luxury tax too. We actually had a vintage car showroom here in Lahore, it’s closed down now.

i would go for a Datsun Z260 1960’s the car is pure class.

The problems you will surely face:

  1. Spare parts
  2. Un-maintained roads where u will need to constantly Brake so average speed inside city is 45-60 Km/Hr
  3. Plenty of touchings and bumpings caused by commercial vehicles like rickshaws/taxis etc who cannot even pay if they touch/hit your car.
  4. Driving is generally a hazard because No one follows Traffic rules, so be sure to get insurance done up
  5. Re-Sale will definitely be an issue once you want to leave the country
  6. Taxes have been raised
  7. A good car Maintenance Center for Vintage cars
