While presumptuous, it’s probably an accurate guess. I have cousins in Pakistan who are well educated but refuse to type properly. Apparently it’s “cool” there. This kind of butchering goes beyond Grammar Nazi quibbles. “Texting” on a full keyboard, typing “da” instead of “the”, when the time savings are non existent, is pure idiocy.

My cousin, who’s Canadian-born, is getting ready to apply to med school and her FB wall is littered with th is kind of stuff. It really drives me up the wall sometimes. I always think I’m reading something a 10 year old wrote.
