So, guys...

What do ya do for food when wife is gone to Pakistan for a coupla months?

Re: So, guys...

you make sure your gf is a good cook.

Re: So, guys…

If you are religious and do not believe in GF then muta’ is good Islamic alternative.

Food is the least of my worry. It is the loneliness which kills me. :silly:

She will cook load of food and freeze it . She wants to make sure I do not explore other alternatives.
The moment my friends come to know she is gone for long time they will invite me over for dinner and pack some when I leave.
There are many many restaurants in the area.
I cook when I feel like it.

besharm!!!!

Re: So, guys...

Mirch... kudos to you!!!

Re: So, guys...

most wives freeze food for their hubby

Re: So, guys...

get the hubby to make food himself :p

he can boil water, right? so that means he can make eggs, pasta and of course chai :D

wife has not been to Pakistan in a decade and has no real interest in going...yaay
I suppose had I imported one, she may want to go.

anyhoo, if she was away, I would cook somedays, pick up some days etc. No problem cooking at all. we really dont do the cook ahead of time and freeze while she is away. takes me marginally more time to cook something than to thaw and heat.

Re: So, guys...

Last time she left, she made some haleem, bhuna gosht and one more thing (that i dont remember) and packed them in many single serving containers and put them in freezer. Every morning before I left house for work, I used to take one cintainer out and left it in the sink to thaw.

Also, she marinated steak and chicken peices for me that I grilled many times.

Other than that, I made some daal for me once, baked some fish with Uncle Ben's rice, cooked some pasta, made some kichri once ..

Re: So, guys...

Don't forget your good pal Deep who came to rescue many a time :@:

Re: So, guys...

I would maybe make a salan or two but i honestly dont have the time to do that anymore. He is lucky he gets food when i am around let alone when i am gone to Pak :p

Is that the proper way to defrost a meal, without taking away good flavor and texture?

What are some dishes taht can be made and frozen? Desi and non-desi.

Re: So, guys...

I start cooking a bit more in quantity couple of weeks before I leave(depending upon how long I am away for) and freeze it in individual disposable containers, around 2 containers for each item. Don't forget to label it.. It works well and hardly any extra work for me.
