Not only is secularism not a root cause of any problem but Pakistan doesn’t embody “secularism” in the first place. The constitution of a secular state, unlike Pakistan’s, would neither declare nor favour an official religion nor would it discriminate against religious minorities and explicitly bar them from getting elected as the head of state because they subscribe to a minority faith. Worse, much of the most blatant discrimination against Ahmadi community in Pak is institutionalized, enshrined in the constitution of the country and upheld by successive governments.
